Kelly must have been asked by a reporter who heard a rumor that he wasn't going to class.

not necessarily -- it would be a common response for the coach to speak of that if hes trying to provide evidence for his opinion.

Since Tuitt is in an underclassmen and all the draft activities happen next semester, if it were a foregone conclusion that he was leaving Tuitt would have no need to stay eligible, even for our bowl which happens this semester. So by still going to classes hes at least remaining eligible for next year

We aren't in the SEC, where people stop attending the classes they never wen't to to begin with. Going on to the NFL or not, I don't see any players on our team skipping classes. We graduate basically everyone.

Tuitt wouldn't be graduating if he left this year.

Careful with the $EC attack there. Someone, umm, not going to call him out would be quick to point out that, umm, there are other schools where kids don't go to class and don't intend to graduate. Not trying to be an ass.

Students skip classes. Athletes skip classes. But having said that the football players at ND do attend classes for the most part.

Didn't he miss a game either last year or the year before because he skipped a class?

He had to be responding to someone who asked the question. I can't see him bringing it up out of the blue.

Not at all. He answered that way meaning that Tuitt still has classes to go until he graduates. Not that he has academic issues or haven't been going.

He was asked about Stephon in terms of the draft and his potential advice and he said basically his advice would be you come to ND to get a degree, and that Manti, Michael and Tyler all came back to do that and all improved draft stock while getting that degree.

The going to class quote means that he still is short of the requirements of the degree. It was just worded in a confusing manner, I believe.

Bottom line, I think this is trending towards him returning, which would be massive.

Yeah, I'd really bet on him coming back. The only thing that might change that would be a very high draft grade.

Agreed. Baring an elite grade, I think he comes back. Which in turns sets us up from a potentially great 2014 campaign.

Tuitt not in his top 32, nor in his next player's in. Stephon dropping in the draft has been a trend I have noticed lately. Hopefully it spurs him to return, selfishly.

If I were Stephon, I would want to be playing closer to 300 than 320. He is going ot be insanely strong either way. I think the extra weight just slows him down a touch.

I agree and I am of the opinion the BK's "he is at the weight we asked him to be" comments were more or less protection of the young man. Here's hoping to a dominating return in the fall.

It did, which was why he couldn't rush the edge like he did last year. Run-stuffing 3-4 DE's don't go in the 1st round. 3-4 DE's that can also provide an effective edge rush can go top 10. We saw it last year, so we know he's capable of it, but his performance this year doesn't warrant a 1st round selection.

I think his operation had a lot to do with it. His weight shot up and it took a while for the healing process to finish where he could practice and work out like he really needed to. The last third of the season he looked like the Tuitt we all know and love.

Tuitt's tweet after Diaco's departure was announce makes me think he may gone but I hope it just drives him to stay and not bounce.

"LOL this program!!! Everything is kept a secret!!! I guess this is called come here make somthing out of yourself and leave"

I think the tweet has been deleted since...

I disagree, respectfully.

IFF, Tuitt is planning on being here 3 years and leaving for the NFL, no degree in hand, why the heck would he call people out for essentially doing that? Makes no sense unless he wants to look like a coward.

Like I said I hope it's what you are saying and he isnt a hypocrite. I guess the negative I read into this is the "LOL this program" part. I would hope he understands this is any program.
