I've got an internship in Cleveland this fall which is going to take me away from my established game-watching community of fellow young alumni as well as the alumni club of Minnesota which I've been pretty happy with as it's a great club (sorry for the dangling preposition, dshans, as well as the run-on sentence. It couldn't be helped...). While I'm originally from Ohio, my friends from back home aren't ND people (Buckeye fans...what can you do when someone is excited to see an overmatched victory against Youngstown State?), so thus I pose to the board a broad question of where and with whom should I catch the games while I'm in Cleveland?

I've got family in Columbus, Dayton, and Findlay, so I'll be looking at any of the four cities for a place to go. Does anyone have an opinion on the alumni club gamewatches of these cities? Do any of you host gamewatches and could use another dude showing up with a six pack and a bag of chips on occasion?

This is most critical for the Michigan game. I've got arrangements for Temple, but if I have to watch Michigan with non-ND people there might be a problem.

I'm a member of the ND Club of Columbus, specifically for the game watches. I've found that they don't do more than a couple of them per season. But I'd be happy to pass info along, when they do.

Hey now hey now.....

Speaking of which:

I led with with The Dead to maintain my street cred as an old hippie, but leave you with an older, more traditional rendition of Iko Iko:

Let me know when you get back in town, MNIrishman. Maybe we can meet up at one of the rare game watches I attend and buy each other some drinks ...

I spent this spent summer working in downtown Cleveland for an internship (and living downtown). Cool city, undervalued IMO right now.

Flannery's Pub is right on East Fourth on the corner. Great irish bar. I think I remember an ND flag on one of the walls. It would be a great spot to watch a game.

One of the partner's at the office I worked at is a die-hard ND fan/alumni and I just e-mailed him to ask where the Cleveland alumni club watches their games. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks man. It took me a year to build up what I have in Minneapolis. Not real happy about leaving it during the season. I hate watching ND games alone- I need people who understand the pain haha.

Because I want to watch the game with some people who might know a little something about football? Most tOSU fans wouldn't know the difference between the Power I, and a Full House backfield. All they know is that Notre Dame has never accomplished anything. They are living off of their reputation, for things that happened before the Civil War. Now the BUCKEYES, on the other hand.............

Yeah Flannery's sounds like it might be good. I'm going to be subletting in a house with an alum as well, so I won't be alone in Buckeye country at any rate. I'm not leaving until after the Temple game, so mostly looking for a Michigan game solution. Columbus hosting a watch for that one? I think I could deal with Buckeye fans for that one. A good strong F Michigan mentality is all I need.

The Club calendar doesn't even show the Temple game watch, so asking about Michigan is kind of premature. But I'll let you know if I get an email about it, or just hear anything.

I live in Cleveland (Mentor). If I go about 85 miles an hour I can make South Bend in about 4 hours. Some good places to watch the game there. I'm not alum but I've looked for a place for a couple of years where they have the game religiously and I could be with like-minded people. Interested in what is uncovered here.
