I hope they wear black. It would be a crazy cool matchup
Devils in black v. Catholics in white? The pre-game commentary will be insufferable.

Cleveland would be awesome, but I doubt that they would move a home game such a short distance without that destination being named Chicago.
They should do the next one down here at Reliant.
I think from a recruiting standpoint, they'd would do better doing these games down the south like they have been..
I think the other problem could be the location puts you right between to large fan bases: Michigan and Ohio State, effectively in their backyard. I can tell you that OSU has no love for the Irish, some of them hate Notre Dame more than Michigan. No, as cool as it would be for me to see the Irish play in Cleveland, I agree that it's not far enough from South Bend and you could wind up with a lot of B1G supporters and anti-Irish fans filling out the venue.

Notre Dame has a pretty damn big following in Ohio, Cincinnati especially. It's important to add that Notre Dame used to play in Cleveland very often against Navy. Cleveland is a pretty Catholic town and has two if the best Catholic high schools in the country (St. Eds and St. Ignatius).
I also don't think for a second the OSU or UM fans would have any negative impact. Texas fans won't impact the Dallas game, and it's close enough to South Bend for the regular fans to drive if they wanted.
I think an SS game in Ohio would be a great way to not only pay homage to the state that has done so much for ND, but to build on that and reestablish the ND name.
Yeah, I don't think the prevalence of B1G fans would have anything to do with it. To me, it's more of the idea that many fans from Ohio live close enough that they are able to get to South Bend, fairly easily, to see a game there. The whole purpose of barnstorming is to bring your brand (LIVE ND football, in this case) to places that it is otherwise not likely to be seen.

Agreed.
But to play devil's advocate that then eliminates areas around traditional rivals (e.g. California) and ACC country (i.e. Boston, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Miami. Washington DC, Philadelphia). Plus ND plays Navy in New Jersey enough so NYC is moot. See my point?
At the end of the day I think New Orleans is the best option. Great opportunity to grow the brand with the Catholic population, and the chance to play in a place that Notre Dame normally isn't able to.
NOLA doesn't give a flying you know what about Notre Dame. Sure we could play LSU there... but who else would we play? Want Louisiana Tech to drive down from Rustin? Southern Miss gonna drive from Hattiesburg over the bridge? Yeah. No. Those would be some great picks. That would really bolster our schedule.
I want the Irish to play in NOLA as much as anybody. My girlfriend's family is from there... I am 3 hours by train (That I can drink on the entire way there)... Bourbon Street... Fun...
BUT NO ONE THERE WANTS US THERE AND WE ARENT GOING TO PICK UP LOUISIANA RECRUITS BY PLAYING THERE. (OR MISSISSIPPI)
I think Buster is right though... lots of love in Cleveland. That is our banana stand. There is always money in the banana stand.

We could play any number of teams. The Shamrock Series is usually an ND home game. I bet that Oklahoma would be just as willing to travel to New Orleans, to play ND, as they would be willing to travel to South Bend. Florida State and/or Miami would probably jump all over it.
Florida State or Miami wouldn't mind it at all. Truth. ACC though. We will get plenty of that already.
Arizona State sees Dallas the same way we do- why not play a game in a state where you want the talent?
Schools I would love to see in the Shamrock Series in NOLA or elsewhere - Texas, Georgia, Florida, Florida State (ACC now we get to play them... lets pick teams we wouldn't get to), or Oklahoma. (Big Schools with big bases)
It's not like we are going to be playing a full ACC schedule, though. Only 5 ACC games a year. If an ACC team is on a roll, and highly ranked year in and year out, then I would not hesitate to schedule them for a Shamrock Series game.
Saw Club USA play Barca a couple years ago at Reliant and was stuck on the highway for 4 hours. Worst driving experience I've ever had.
What? Where were you??
I've never seen it THAT bad. I have season tickets to the Texans, I'm down there 10 times a year.
Lambeau would be amazing. I'd pay any amount of money to be there for that.
Fenway is probably too small, but wasn't that mentioned a few months back?

Some idiot on Yahoo had this too say:
Wayne
Colleges waste so much money on uniform changes and locker room upgrades instead of working on incentives to entice good players..
