2015 QB Looks To Impress .

Kevin Johnson has already impressed one of the nation’s premier quarterback gurus enough to earn a scholarship offer and the 2015 signal-caller will be in South Bend this weekend to show the Notre Dame coaches what he can do.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder from Atlanta’s Pace Academy will work out as part of the Irish’s Future Stars Camp on Friday.

“They sent me some mail and they just wanted me to come to their camp, so we made it happen,” Johnson said. “Their coach came down here and said they wanted to see me in the camp.”

He currently holds an offer from South Carolina and Gamecock head coach Steve Spurrier.

“My freshman year, the recruiting coordinator came to my school and pretty much offered me,” Johnson recalled. “Then I went to camp and impressed Coach Spurrier.

“It’s pretty great. I like the campus and everything. My dad went there, so it was a big deal.”

Johnson also has an early appreciation for Notre Dame.

“I really like Notre Dame,” he said. “It has a great education, they play great football and they played in the national championship this year, so it’s just a great opportunity.”

He’s confident that he’ll be able to grab the staff’s attention.

“I want to show them that I can play at that level and I could fit in their offense pretty well,” he said.

“Watching Everett Golson, that’s pretty much my playing style. I can probably throw the ball a little bit better than him, but there are a lot of similarities.”

Like Golson, Johnson can make plays with his feet if he needs to, but prefers to make things happen with his arm.

“I would say I’m a pocket-passer, but I can run if I have to,” he said.

He’s also receiving interest from programs like Auburn, Virginia Tech, Missouri, Tennessee and Georgia among others.

Johnson will be searching for a school with a solid mix of academics and athletics.

“I’m looking for a school with a great education and a great coaching staff with coaches who are going to push me to the next level.”

Its good to have confidence but a high school sophomore, soon to be junior, saying that he can throw better than a college QB that just played in the NCG is pretty funny.

Told Steve Hare this after the camp:

"I'll say this, if ND would offer me I will be going there."

Keep in mind, he almost committed to South Carolina after camping their and being offered

Anyone have his contact info? There's a poker game in Atlanta I'd like to invite him to.

“@kevjohnson7: Dogged at Notre Dame camp. Its always fun when you dominate the competition. #fightingIrish #pace #filthy #slutty #alllat”

I'm 18 and am confused still by the use of "dogged", "pace", "slutty", & "allat" here...

This is how you know he won't get an offer.

He would have to be a phenomenal, can't turn away type of talent for the staff to offer him now and accept his commitment.
