A white person will never be that stereotyped because he's white compared to minorities.

I'm trying to understand this...

are you saying a white person never knows/encounters discrimination or stereotyping... simply because they are white... and if so do you not destroy your own argument right there?

I will also point out that I have lived in a majority white neighborhood maybe three years out of my 33 total on this earth... and I can tell you where I come from, Whites get as much hate/discrimination/so on as anyone.

I attended Xavier University for some time and was seeing one of the cheerleaders. I remember her telling me about the flight out to the women's NCAA tournament with the team. She said that one of the basketball players asked how many people there were lesbians and almost half of the team raised their hands. This whole Brittney Griner situation does not surprise me at all.

The difference is that racism against whites isn't institutionalized. Besides maybe affirmative action at major private schools, it isn't comparable to racism against minorities.

That's up for debate.

When did you CHOOSE to be heterosexual?

Wait, Pat is straight? :)

I chose to be straight after I quit being a lesbian, Anne Heche style.

You're right. With zero credible scientific evidence.....it's still logical to debate that

Wait, are you saying that there is zero credible evidence that homosexuality is biological? SMH. Do you read scientific journals at all? Have you read the studies on animals and homosexuality?

What are you going to do next? Argue that Evolution isn't real?

So what does that have to do with being a basketball player at Baylor?

And please, be specific, how was she disadvantaged and screwed over at Baylor? Seems to me she had it pretty good.

I have no problem with the coach not wanting this to become the focus of her team. There is ZERO to gain from Griner coming out. It only drags around a media circus.

So do we not give a damn about how the other women on the team feel? Because you want to push a political agenda on everyone?

To get back on topic...

Personally if one of my players wanted to come out, so be it. If the media is your problem, just tell them to not do it in front of a national audience. Coming out doesn't have to be a shouting from the rooftops event. She could seriously just inform the people she actually cares about and really wants to know - her teammates, her friends, her family, her coaches, etc. And then she could live her life how she really wanted to.

Asking her to hide who she is is disgusting to me. Nobody should really care.

Thank you.

If it's not a choice (and thta doesn't mean I hate gays or anything) then why do so many switch sides?? Hell, I know someone who did!

And why is it such a point of contention for people to accept that? It's not like I'm dogging them for their choice, I just believe it's a choice.

There is no science that 100% proves that. Do YOU read anything outside your bubble? I suppose you're referring to the LaVay brain study of 1991? Yeah, decades old research that has been debunked.

LGBT? How do you explain the "B"? Bisexuals can't make up their mind, are they gay or not??. Why include bisexuals if they don't exist according to your own logic?

"Homosexuality is not hardwired...whatever genes are involved represent predispositions, not predeterminations."

"..there is an inescapable component of heritability to many human behavioral traits. For virtually none of them is heredity ever close to predictive."

-Dr. Francis S. Collins, one of the world's leading scientists who works at the cutting edge of DNA

And here are his credentials if you need them: Former NHGRI Director Francis Collins' Biography

And there are more that agree with him.

Yes predispositions as in you don't have to act on it, but it is natural for them.

There are other studies out there that talk about how biology is the cause

Epigenetics may be a critical factor contributing to homosexuality, study suggests

Also bisexuality is very easily explained, you are acting like it is rocket science. 2 theories both easily understandable. One is that the person has the genes (or the expression of those genes) to find both sexes attractive and thus can swing both ways easily. The other theory is that sexuality is a continuum. 0 being completely heterosexual and 6 being completely homosexual and that people fall somewhere along the line. So some people are a 0 some a 6 and some a 3 so they are truely bixesual meaning they can swing either way comfortly.

Also you pointed out earlier that you know someone who changed sexual preference (and then there is Anne Heche) but that is easily explained by either theory.

Also a small percentage of homosexuality is defintely by choice, and it is usually women who have had very bad experiences with men and then turn to another woman due to the fact that they feel comfortable with them and feel that they won't be mistreated. But you can not take 1 person you know or a small percentage and say that it is proof that it isn't biological.

Didn't say it was. Just pointing out what I believe.

Again, I have nothing against gays. At all. In fact, I'm a supporter of individual freedoms, and gay rights.

But I dont' agree, respectfully, that it's biological

That's fine, as long as it doesn't lead to prejudice.

I don't think it does. It doens't define how I feel about gays at all.

As it shouldn't.

But some peopel take offense to the fact that I disagree with "why" someone is gay. I mean, they take it as an insult when it's just not the case.

It's this question that has always lead me back to the logic that it is biological.

WHY would a man who is biologically heterosexual even entertain the thought of having sex with another man?
As a straight man, I don't need to try it to know I would NOT like it. Therefore, by your logic, there are biologically heterosexual men all over the world having sex with other men simply because they choose to or are curious?

If every man is born biologically heterosexual than you are calling every homosexual a fake.

If people are angered by your questioning of someones homosexuality then try to understand what it would be like to constantly have to explain why you're straight.

You don't choose to be, you just are.

But there is nothign concrete that it is.

Here me out before you judge.....

Say that it is, biological....would it not be a defect? And I'm saying that because why would we be "born" that way? We could never procreate or further the human race.....

Just a thought.

Yes, it is a biological defect.

You don't have sex with men, because you were born heterosexual and you are sexually attracted to women. At no point in your life did you decide to choose women over men. It doesn't work the other way either.

Just so you know, I'm not judging you, and I don't think you have any beef with homosexuals, I just think we see it differently.
