Bump.

So how'd it go, dude?

Me and my buddies are looking for a secluded, primitive camping spot somewhat near Chicago. It is going to be after Prom so I think everyone can infer what will be going on.

They all bonded and moved to Minnesota for a communal wedding license.

Hahaha it was a blast. Good times with better people. We ended up going to Pike Lake in Wisconsin. Really nice campgrounds. Funny thing was I broke me and my girls tent so we ended up sleeping in the car the 1st night...that was fun. But other than that it was awesome. Thanks for asking.

Resurrecting this thread. I have been camping alot lately. I disconnect, leave the phone in the car, and get outside with the fam. I have been to lots of places in the low country, mainly primitive sites. My favorite spot is Edisto Beach State Park and Hunting Island. Two very nice places to escape.

One thing I always do is have my kids build something out of what is around us. A fee weeks ago they made a survival lean-to. Another was a small chair out of bamboo and lashings.

Anyone have any neat stories or places they have camped?

I'll have you know that it's a DELUXE tape player. It can handle both 4-track and 8-track tapes. I also upgraded the shag carpeting and and wood paneling. I also slapped some of those glow-in-the-dark stars, planets and the moon on the ceiling to enhance the camping "experience."

Great trails.

Hurrican Matthew hit this place hard though. I had my cub scouts help volunteer to clean it up as a seevice project.

Shit Cack, I'm jealous. It's 13 degrees and dropping here. The wood stove is blaring so I'll survive.

Sorry to hear that. It dipped down into the 30s overnight but got up into the 70s. Crystal clear skies. Just gorgeous really.

Cack. You should pick up a fly rod and start fishing for redfish. You have a world class fishery right there. You would dig the whole fly fishing community. If you want to get started, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.
