I love all the posts from the supposed "tolerant" and "progressive" types on here....

We're open minded...as long as you agree with us.

And you claim to want an open discussion but place the label of being "tolerant" on people who disagree with your worldview and then call them hypocrites of the label you've imposed on them for dismissing the ramblings of a professional troll.

How many chances do you get? Glenn Beck has been around for a decade and he is clearly a lunatic. He had a new crazy idea every week, and he hit on 0% of them. He was so embarrassingly stupid that FOXNews fired him, and FOXNews has a business model built on making up crazy things to scare stupid people for political reasons.

Once this idiot vomits out whatever nonsense he thinks is going to get people to pay attention to him, we will make fun of that. For now we have to settle for just the source of the stupidity.

I think it's becoming clear that anyone who has conservative values on this forum is an outsider. I guess I'm way outside, but that's what is great about our country that everyone is allowed to have their opinions unless you share them with the progressives who feel their opinions matter more. I think that's sad for a group of people that act so righteous. Glenn Beck has been wrong plenty no doubt about it, but has anyone pointed out when he was right? I think the was named Jones not sure, but Obama was pretty much forced to kick him to the curb for his ideas.

"Oh no I'm a republican and I'm constantly treated badly, no one on this board takes me seriously when I post that Glen Beck has news that he's going to share (in his latest book probably). You hypocrites aren't being tolerant of me like you always are for everyone else! What do I do?..."

Cut out the pity party. There are plenty of conservatives on the board. Buster Bluth, me (though I would say I'm more of a "traditional conservative" than you based on your posts), Jade Brecks, Pat, etc. You have every right to say whatever belief you want on this board, but you have no right not to be challenged for those beliefs. I don't honestly give a crap about your political philosophy but when I see you using argumentative fallacies like "you can't disagree or else you're intolerant" in order to wrap yourself into a challenge-proof cocoon it pisses me off. Come back when you want to argue like a big boy.

And you're thinking of Van Jones by the way.

Um, did you see the poll for Romney vs Obama. I think Romney won rather handily. So I would say that you missed the boat again.

I think you're wrong. Hell look at the Romney/Obama vote count on the politics thread, Romney is winning by a large margin.

What did you expect? Fer the luva gawd, The Christ (He who is known as Jesus of Nazareth) was a known liberal agitator and revolutionary leftie. He came to be reviled by both the ruling Romans and the entrenched Jewish jackanapes. A forum dedicated to His Mother shouldn't be be anything but "lib'ral" in all matters regarding the human condition, tolerance and forgiveness.

But I digress with perfumery, pomposity and perfidy.

This "I think the was named Jones not sure, but Obama was pretty much forced to kick him to the curb for his ideas." baffles me. WTF?

I'll take Jeff Beck over Glenn Beck any day. The former has talent and insight to spare, the latter has none.

Oh, and what is this "domestic bombing" you reference?

Actually I respect and listen to many conservatives (I liked Richard Lugar, Lindsey Graham (well most of the time), Robert Gates, John Mccain (well the pre 2004 version), Chris Christie, Lisa Murkowski, etc) but Glenn Bleck is ****ing crazy. Sorry.

Those people you mentioned aren't "conservatives"...

I didn't say I didn't like the discussions. Just pointing out that those who claim to have open minds sure are quick to dismiss something as nonsense.

And I'm well aware that I should be the last person whining about an argument. I don't. I love this ****

And I don't listen to Glenn Beck... A little too emotional for me and is a little too religious. Makes some good points from time to time.

Andrew Wilkow is my style. Brightest political mind on the air

The best show ever was Crossballs on Comedy Central. Where one guy would pretend to be pro drunk-driving, and the split screen would be with the MADD representative.

Um, they are conservatives, but the Republican party lost their damn mind and decided that intelligence was a hinderance (see Sarah Palin, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Sharron Angle, etc). Heck I ddin't even mention that I respect George H.W. Bush, or Rob Portman, etc.

There are a lot of great republicans, and there even used to be a lot of great minds in the non-governmental conservative movement. William F. Buckley was an intellectual hero of mine, even if our philosophies differed. He was a great thinker and a great debater. His legacy is now carried forward by anti-intellectual used car salesmen like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levine. The modern conservative movement is led by entertainers in the PT Barnum mold, who are undeniably brilliant with respect to their ability to manipulate angsty and angry stupid people, but possess incredibly unsophisticated and unlearned world views.

I don't think any of the people you cited can be even remotely confused as "carrying the legacy" of William F. Buckley, Jr...

Yep. Today's GOP is being held hostage by a group of people who make their millions off feeding a false anger to millions of bible thumping (read: gullible) morons. There isn't even a discussion of "better government" solutions, it's constantly pushing for "no government" solutions, which is never going to happen.

It's weird, yet brilliant in some sense. They get the crowd riled up for ideas that are impossible to implement and so their viewers/money supply is just a steady stream these days. I really think Hannity/Limbaugh/Levine's criticisms of reducing government are akin to getting a bunch of people really behind the idea of...draining the Pacific Ocean. It's impossible, will never happen, and so their ability to criticize a fake problem never goes away.

Just because people have different preferences than you doesn't make them "morons". Or "gullible". They just want something different than you.

If Beck REALLY had important information that had national security implications, why would he withhold it until Monday? Forget his track record, this is clearly a crass attempt to get ratings. I would say that about anybody, liberal or conservative, who tried to pull a stunt like this.

But let's not forget Beck's track record. He's a sensationalist whose made his name, and fortune, on big claims, not a careful analysis of facts.
