ND has never offered a 3 star that ended up being a solid contributor to help land a 5 star player?

I think Kelly did that for the Atkinson brothers, I could be mistaken though.

However, I agree with you on the larger point that JBB probably won't get an offer to assist in landing Peppers. It doesn't seem like we are even going after Peppers that heavily so offering a prospect the staff doesn't have that much interest in to aid in Peppers' recruitment is pretty nonsensical

Well the kid has a prototypical frame for an OL and has a solid offer list. All I'm saying is we're taking at least 4 OL this year, we took 5 last year. He's certainly got a better offer list than Rob Toma (when we landed Te'o) and has very good size for his position. Not to mention he looks strong and aggressive - maybe he's an interior guy or a mauling RT prospect. If it helps us land Peppers, you offer him. Peppers is the best player in the country.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see an offer go out to him but theres more to take into consideration than talent and on field things. Like Buster pointed out, maybe JBB hasn't gotten an offer because of grades, behavior, or maybe the staff tried reaching out and JBB wasn't interested in ND. Or maybe ND has its own reason for not wanting him. Maybe he doesn't fit the OL scheme.

You can't use Toma as an example, that offer went out from the Weis regime and Kelly has proven to be quite different from Weis.

Again, not saying I wouldn't like to add JBB or offer him, because I would. Especially if it did help with Peppers. Theres just may be some logistics/obstacles stopping that from happening

Manti and Toma weren't recruited by BK though. And it more than likely won't help land Peppers, niether Stanford LSU, or OSU have offered him either. They both like Michigan but they aren't a package.

You're right - none of those schools have offered him. But Florida State, Miami, West Virginia, Tennessee, Michigan, Florida and others have....He's not a waste of space. And you do whatever you can to land him(Peppers). Even if it means taking his friend that will at worst be a depth player for ND. It's just stupid if we don't go all out to recruit a consensus top 3 player in the country that has the grades and seems like a good kid (albeit a little cocky). If he's not interested that's one thing, but Peppers consistently mentioned ND in his top group until we mysteriously backed off...

And only 1 of those schools are in his top 5. Obviously JBBs recruitment isn't that important to Peppers.

So true. This time last year we were leaders for Mackenzie Alexander and apparently was close to a decision. We all see how that turned out, I don't think we ended up in his top 5 when all was said and done.

Farrell is pretty plugged into the east coast region. Kid takes visits to LSU and Ohio State and both have dropped on his list? If that's true then you have to love Michigan's chances here.
