Interesting...kinda like the mortgage deduction, married heterosexual benefits, Children benefits...ya know how the government once thought its job was to promote the traditinal family, and put things in place to "reward" those who sought that. All the data shows this is the best thing for ANY society.

...yet most of the things government has architected in support of traditional families are under fire from "fair" mavens....and represents less "benefit" than the aid programs that promote and perpetuate behavior totally inconsistant with traditional family.

Bottom line...when government gets in it...it attaches "right" to things that aren't rights and infringes on things that are already rights. In this modern era, the moment you stake out an issue as something the Federal Government should be involved in...you doom it to the worst of any given political party because the parties are so caustic and aggressive, and rarely do we undo anything in our legislative system.

Right now...ANYTHING of consequence .....well I'm a fan of gridloack lest these children masquerading as politicians be allowed to "guide" things for our "good".

If it was intending to do what was BEST for society...it wouldn't give in to fringe groups and minorities, no?

Society thought it BEST not to pass the ACA (60% didn't want it)...but they did it anyway and told us it was BEST for us....

"The new law bans some weapons as well as the sale or purchase of high-capacity magazines like those used in the Newtown shooting in December that left 20 children and six adults dead."

Talk about shotty journalism...the AR wasn't even used in the shooting. It remained in the trunk.

So what do they consider "high round" mags???

I believe the new law is 10 rounds max. I just picked up two ruger 10-22 32 round mags today. Gun store just got them in. :wordyo:

If you go through piece by piece individual sections of ACA are well accepted, but obamacare has been ingrained with an evil connotation

Ahhh....Kinda like our congress did before passing it?

Tell me, how long did it take you to read every single page?

And instead of an overhaul, why not just make some reforms to a system that works already??

FLdomer I think you mistook my attempt at some witt for being derogatory, pat was boasting his states freedom and I pointed out an exception. But getting back to the actual debate, I think gun control is attacking a symptom, not the cause, Canadians can freely purchase firearms but most dont really feel it necesary, Bob costas was right, its a gun culture thing.

This is where I got my information, ACA is a reform to your current system in my eyes, a privatized insurance system where no one can be denied and where the poor receive a subsidy to pay for their care

I agree with you, Bob Costas and Irishpat. I am in all seriousness just wondering if it comes from the fact that the Americas had to fight so hard for our independence that the love/respect for firearms has been ingrained in this country. I know for a fact I do love my guns but don't feel the need to purchase them but I do enjoy the recreation, food, and protection they provide.

The ACA is over 10,000 pages, and many, if not most, of the regulations haven't even been written yet. So I'd be hesitant to put all my eggs in a minute and a half youtube video basket.

I could find a 100 opposing Youtube vids on the ACA and what's actually in it.

Knife control!?

I struggle to see why a guns-rights activist would think that such incidents bolster their claims.

Sure, bad things are always going to happen with or without guns... That's an argument you could make. Wouldn't recommend it though.

Psycho with a knife? 14 injured, 2 critical.

Psycho with a gun? 28 killed.

I'd say that's more of an indictment on guns than an indictment on reactionary liberals.

When you got nothing to say, resort to slippery slope.
