So this isn't a done deal apparently. The SBT article in the spring practice thread says finality/resolution expected Monday.

This all swings on how Wooly's hair looks 5 am Monday morning cause we all know he's on his way to SB to convince Kiel to stay.

Outside of a few runs by GAIII, it's all potential at this point. Loads of talent, yes, but not much realized production just yet. An example of an outrageous backfield would be Bama returning a big-time player in Yeldon while adding unproven talent or Georgia returning two stud young RBs with lots of proven production.

Right, we lost our two starters. It makes sense that we haven't seen much in game production from the other guys. However, we do have Carlisle who has starting experience at USC and did very well before getting hurt there, GA3 who has some experience and great speed, and two top RB recruits, as well as McDaniel and Mahone. I'm not worried; but yes, most of what we are looking at is potential. Basically exactly what I said in my post, that when someone asserts himself it's going to work out well.

I'll put out an award for someone to locate Wooly's where abouts.

I know where Wooly is. He made it pretty clear. He has other priorities right now, and isn't particularly motivated to post. So; Buffalo.

Any talk on to where?

- Vandy possible

quartet of smaller midwestern schools that may go after the quarterback: Ball State, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois and Cincinnati.

Louisville could develop as a possibility as well. The program is only an hour from Kiel's home in Columbus, Indiana. Louisville recruited Kiel a year ago. And there will likely be an opening at quarterback after this season when the odds are in favor of Teddy Bridgewater leaving

Adam Rittenberg can see several teams in his conference making a play for Kiel. Rittenberg says that Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois could all have room for the quarterback.

possibly purdue/msu if ND doesn't block transfer

No way in hell ND should allow his transfer to a team they have scheduled. I'd be pissed if they didn't block a transfer to a rival.

Has the school or the Kiel's confirmed or is there still an outside shot BK gets him to stay?

Why? I say let him go and let the defense tear him apart.

I'm not really a fan of blocking transfers anyways.

You want to seriously multiply Purdue/MSU's chances of beating us? Hand them an elite, 5-star QB. No way.

An elite, 5 star QB who apparently doesn't have the confidence to try to make the Notre Dame starting QB job his own.

Wouldn't concern me one bit. Kiel hasn't played a single down in college. He may develop into an elite QB over time, but I'll take our defense against Kiel any day.

He's going to be a stud, don't kid yourself. He's behind a QB with 3 years left who led a vegas 7-5 team to an undefeated regular season. It's not an indictment of his talent, he's in a tough situation.

I think it's just SOP that you don't let a guy transfer to a team on your schedule. Regardless of how good Kiel gets, he's been in the QB meetings for a year, he knows a lot about our program and it's not a good idea to let a guy like that play for a rival. Transfers between opponents do happen sometimes, for instance Amir Carlisle, but I think we are all still wondering exactly why Kiffin agreed to that.

I recall that Weis let a couple of our guys transfer to Stanford, too; Konrad Reuland, the FB/TE, and a kicker. I heard at the time that Reuland double-crossed Weis ... Weis said he'd grant the release if Reuland promised not to transfer to a team on our schedule, Reuland said he wouldn't, and then he did anyway. Not sure if that's true though. And the kicker may have been a walk on, don't know about him. Anyway, it does happen, but I don't think it's good practice. There are plenty of places Gunner can play without having to play for a team we play against.

Yeah, our D currently. But by the time Kiel gets on the field, we may not be as good as we are now.

I think Reuland had a brother at Stanford and Stanford was one of his top locations anyway. If Weis believed that and that is true..... well no wonder he no longer coaches at ND.

Ok so you're assuming Kiel will be good and our defense will not be as good? Where's the logic in that? I could just as easily say Kiel won't be good and our defense will be top 5. What do we know? Kiel hasn't played at all. We do know our defense is legit and the level of play should not go down based on recruiting, player development, and coaching.
