My love is nearly back in season.

Maybe she shall be with my child...?

;)

March 31st! Prepare for the cold North wind brothers! Winter quickly approaches!

(Fellas not watching this: just watch the first episode. If you don't like it, cool. But you'll be hooked.)

OMG were those chapters in a ADwD boring or what?

The most frustrating thing about the books to me is how long I'm going to hypothetically wait to read the final 2 because apparently GRRM writes at a snail's pace... and how the story now seems to have gotten so big that it's going to take another 4000 pages or so to even have a chance of finishing it well.

At first I loved the unpredictability of main characters and good guys dying... but now it seems like he's gone way too far in the wrong direction. Way too many "fake death" cliffhangers. It's getting annoying. And most of the central POV characters currently featured I either dislike or find boring. Basically only rooting for Littlefinger and Tyrion at this point.

Love the show so I started reading the books a month or so ago (I didn't want to wait until 3/31 to find out what happens). I'm really hoping this doesn't ruin my appreciation for the show...

Jon Snow is probably my favorite. We see the massacre this season I think.

I love the Imp. I hated him in the first book, but ever since thenI have really liked following his storyline.

I like Jon and Tyrion the most. Daenarys used to be my most hated, but she is growing on me.

Just finished re-watching the first to seasons in preparation for the new season. Anyone else a huge fan of the show or the books?

HUGE fan of the show. IMO, the best tv show of all time. I just started reading the books. I'm over half way through book 1.

Love the books, the show is great so far. I read the first four books, then got halfway through the 5th before I stopped for required reading at school last year. Currently rereading them so I can start the 5th from the beginning, getting through the second book at the moment. It's amazing all the things you catch the second and third time reading them.

I was a big fan of the books "before it was cool". Read the first two and had to wait patiently for 5+ years until he put out the next one. I really enjoy the Tv show and was glad they had less focus on sex this past season. There is so much more to the books than sex.

I am a fan of both...had been recommended the books by many fellow fantasy fans...I keep myself pretty busy with musical projects and home improvement stuff...so I hadn't gotten to them by the time the show came out...after the first episode I made time to buy and read them.

I have just started reading the books while our team buses around for our games this season. I love the show and I am starting to like the books even more.

The show is good, but I can't wait for the next book. There is still supposedly about 70% of the story remaining.

I really, really hope the author doesn't die before it's over... apparently he's a big dude.

It wouldn't suprise me if over half of the story remained, but I thought he was pretty concrete in saying the 7th book would be the last... but I could be mistaken and making that up in my head.

the series will end at seven. But rumors are that the author might not make it that long due to age. The good news is that if he doesn't make it till the seventh book he has already given the main points to the producers of the show.

My wife finally got me to watch, the show is okay... I do like Tyrion and Robb... both cool characters... I started reading the books to see if it is better... So far so good

the one thing I'll give the show is it followed book 1 to season 1 almost exactly... which is cool... The whole series started to lose me when witches started birthing black demon half ghosts, and everyone with half a soul either got axed or lost in woods/beyond the wall to such a degree they might as well have died... hoping good overcomes at some damn point.

On book 3 now... part of my complaint about those with souls/hearts came from book 3... we shall see though, not done with it yet...

Well, keep reading but you're about to find there is quite a pattern developing.

Yeah, book 3 is the worst for that sort of thing. I think it will make for the best TV season though. But Martin is ruthless in killing off characters throughout the series.

I absolutely love this series. A friend of mine got me watching it last summer and knocked out the two seasons in around 72 hours. Started reading the first book immediately and am now a little over halfway finished with the 5th book (ADwD).

I won't spoil anything for anyone, but all I'll say is that for those of you who don't know what happens after season (or book) 2, you better buckle up, because you're in for a wild ride... And that is with the 3rd book being broken off into two seasons. So many memorable scenes in SoS.

SoS is possibly the best book I've ever read, period. The 4th book (AFfC) is probably the worst one in the series so far. Not that it's bad, but I thought GRRM got way too detailed with characters and stories that frankly I don't really care about. I'm sure it'll all tie together in some way though, with the last two books still to come. But I didn't get much out of AFfC until the last 100 or so pages, and I really enjoyed those (for obvious reasons, those of you who have read it).

Tyrion is probably my favorite character. Peter Dinklage does an outstanding job portraying him, but I enjoy Tyrion's passages in the books even more. I've always had a soft spot for Bran and Arya as well.

When I finish the ADwD, I'll definitely be stopping by the spoiler thread...

Yes I agree about A Feast of Crows. It's my least favorite so far (I'm about a third of the way through it). Too much focus on the less interesting characters IMO.

If Jon or Arya or someone from House Stark doesn't kill a fekin Lannister in a real brutal way... perferably Jamie... by time the latest book comes out I think I'm done here... There is only so much investing in good characters only see them stabbed through the heart by evil degenerates I can take.
