Does Haden have a kid that goes to the same school? Could that be a recruiting violation?

I don't think so. I believe the AD can participate in recruiting for a team that doesn't have a full coaching staff. USC is down a coach, if not more. I know they lost their DB coach recently.

Shes not in high school yet so i dont think the ncaa rules apply

Haden was there to recruit Eddie, not the sister, right? Don't think her status matters.

Does anyone still believe that there might be a "positive" surprise on or before NSD?

I can't seem to find the list for who's visiting this weekend.

Hollins
Smythe
EV
Fitts

LaRue was scratched? Isaac is not confirmed? Prevot pushed back?

This all correct?

All correct, except as of now Hollins is not 100%.

And obviously the EE's and Jaylon will be there as well.

In case you were wondering, the 2013 Signing Day Show will be streamed live on UND.com on Wednesday, February 6, starting at 7 am.

I don't consider Eddie Vanderdoes a long shot. Same goes for Smythe and Fitts. Hollins and Prevot are long shots. You don't put off evaluation visits this late in the game. Not when Notre Dame doesn't have a whole lotta wiggle room with remaining scholarships and 5th year player requests. You bring your parents, siblings, you are seriously considering Notre Dame.

EV has always been a huge long shot. Let's not kid ourselves. We originally didn't even make his top 15! Teams he initially had ahead of us included: Baylor, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State, Georgia Tech, and Michigan State

But then we went 12-0. And USC went 7-6. And then he decommitted. And then he scheduled an OV. When he set up the OV is when we officially became a player.

So maybe he'll show up and LOVE his OV and we land him. Or maybe he'll show up and say "eff this cold." But the reason why people don't take us seriously is rooted in fact... the fact that he was initially completely uninterested in Notre Dame.

I think he's still quite a long shot but anything is possible. If there is one thing I've learned in recruiting it's to never, ever make assumptions prior to visits.

I dunno where you're getting this from but Hollins has said publicly many times that he's 50-50 between UCLA and ND without even visiting. If the staff really wanted him he'd probably already be Irish. Prevot was considered a Notre Dame lean before rearranging his visits... at worst , we're in his top 3 with most suggesting top 2 with USC being a no go. There's a theory out there that the visit timing/shuffling has more to do with the preference of ND coaches than anything else.

Really hard to tell on Fitts, EV, and Smythe right now.

I think everything Smythe has said and done leads me to believe he is the single person I would bet on most if asked who is most likely to end up in this class out of these prospects. Hollins would be second for me.

Agree completely that until after they visit, we can not truly know about EV and Fitts.

Totally agree with this. I think Smythe is most likely to end up in the class of the prospects currently on the board.

I am allowing myself to be optimistic about EV. I am not optimistic about Fitts ... just think he is a USC homer. In both cases we need a great visit. Along with Isaac, they are my most wanted players.

Hate to beat the same drum but last year with DGB is a prime example.

I think the lesson from DGB's flip is more "Visits strongly imply genuine interest," instead of "Expect the unexpected!" We didn't know it at the time, but DGB allegedly had transcript issues similar to those that forced Tee to leave. Did he really pick Houston over ND, or did he learn of his inability to pass admissions and scrambled for a backup plan?

Yeah Eddie V is a wayyyyyy long shot.

Pat Haden sat with his family last night at his sisters basketball game.
Lol.

They are pulling out all the stops in his recruitment.

One more reason he won't go to USC. Remember how everyone disliked listening to him on ND broadcast, just think of sittitng next to him at a basketball game.

I would be more worried that Smythe dislikes the cold more than Vanderdoes. I guess Vanderdoes is just so important of a recruit.

Let's hope he kept talking about usc's Fa-Nance program...as opposed to their Fie-nance program.

Supposedly was in the process of qualifying for Florida and the staff didn't want to wait.

Rumor down here is that he can't get past UF admissions before NSD and he's still taking OVs, so they gave him the boot. Auburn had been sniffing around as well (they're trying to flip pretty much everyone with a Southern mailing address at the moment), but it sounds like they couldn't take him either.
