Former #USC DT Armond Armstead has signed with an agent and will participate in some portion of pro day tomorrow.

If he had difficulty passing a college physical how does he pass an NFL physical?

Several million dollar question. Certainly seems like your question is rhetorical (or at least intended to be), but I ask is the liability the same in the NFL? Is there an option for a legal waiver of risk not acceptable by the NCAA at the college level?

Too many variables, even without the actual medical condition to speak authoritatively.

I resign myself to two things on this subject:

1) Certainly doesn't look good not to have a clean bill of health.
2) Everything else is out of bounds for informed deduction.

Edit: I know BGIF was really alluding to #1, but I don't think it hurts to remind people of #2.

Can't answer specifics but an NFL franchise would have to risk a draft choice on a player that it appears couldn't get cleared to play in college. Colleges may be more noble (I know U$C) and might simply not want to take the risk nor risk the student athlete ( ND as opposed UF with Wenger) whre in the NFL's a player's a commodity, a business decision subject to risk analysis.

Armond Armstead said he wanted to play w/ his brother but when he picked Oregon, he decided to go pro because he couldn't transfer in conf.

Bryan Fischer ‏ @BryanDFischer
Armstead said he's fully healthy and can pass any test but USC didn't allow him to work out at Pro Day.

Armstead said Haden originally allowed him to participate but that changed. He will enter the 2012 NFL Draft & have his own ProDay Apr. 9.

ND's medical staff had his records for weeks. Couldn't clear him

Oh yeah, definitely well aware of that. We know USC and ND couldn't clear him. I wonder if Arkansas couldn't clear him either.

Saw this yesterday. Happy he found a place to accept him. Extremely talented player with some physical ailments. Happy to see he's progressing so well.

I'm thankful also that the young man can pursue his dream, and hopefully do so safely. This also points out how ignorant some of the postings on IE were when the recruitment drama was taking place last winter, and that Kelly and the staff were progressing in rational ways on a complicated front, while certain IEers were expressing nonsense theories. Wish we'd stop doing that when it becomes critical of Kelly.

He signed with the Patriots today.

This made me laugh. I can't stand Adam Schefter, yet I follow him on twitter. He's just now tweeting the Pats have officially signed Armond. I'm thinking it's breaking news, so I get on IE to post it, and sure enough, you posted it a week ago. Haha. Schefty is losing a step to Ironman.
