His parents have money. I hope he spent that at the strip club after this photo. Kid wins the Heisman and people will dig up anything they can on him. Did it with Tebow, RG3 now Manziel.

I'm confused. Are you trying to defend him or are you just being cynical?

There are a couple of problems here:

1) He just won the Heisman and is now the most exposed player in the country. He needs to conduct himself accordingly.

2) He is still due in court for his offseason MIP

I'm not defending him I just think people are attacking him for no reason. Sure maybe he shouldn't be doing some of things he is doing. But people need to remember there college students and having fun. They did this last year with RG3 saying he didn't love the game right before the draft. I just don't get what's the big deal? Anybody post pics of the chick he gets to cuddle with? Not saying you guys are doing this but lets not sit behind a keyboard and judge a kid none of us know.

+1. If he was some kid from a really poor background I'd probably be going "hmmmm...." and at least entertaining the thought of violations.

But he isn't. So there is really nothing to see here. And I also don't care if he's drinking underage.

True and fair enough.

I don't think anybody is "digging" anything up on this kid. He has never had a problem completely letting loose since he go into college. The Snoopy incident was clearly his fault, then he went to the games. Now, the holding cash for a picture is ridiculously stupid. He has no one to blame but himself. Obviously AtM has no rules and are fitting into the SEC nicely.

I don't care if he is committing violations or not. He just seems like the ultimate d!ckbag. If he had a couch, I'd fvck it up.

Since none of us have any idea whether or not he has committed any NCAA violations, can we at least agree that the Heisman Trust cares not at all about character like they so claim?

Heisman Trust caring? If the Heisman Trust cared then they would reduce the number of votes by about 75%. If they cared then they would discredit the 25% of voters who turned in ballets before November. If they cared then two newspaper gophers at some random newspaper wouldn't be approved for Heisman votes on no basis. If they cared then they would either change their mission statement or actually live up to it. It's money to them. If you think they care then you are truly delusional.

Only 2, maybe 3, of the last 8 Heisman winners had no character issues. Some of these guys are outright hated now. Real nice job by the voters.

Johnny Manziel
Cam Newton
Mark Ingram
Sam Bradford
Tim Tebow
Troy Smith
Reggie Bush

Texas A&M to Johnny Football: Time to Grow Up

Texas A&M to Johnny Football: Time to Grow Up

Texas A&M to Johnny Football: Time to grow up | Yardbarker.com

Johnny Manziel has gone from a relatively unknown college football player to a celebrity athlete in a matter of months. His legend grew after he helped Texas A&M beat national champion Alabama at Tuscaloosa in November, and his celebrity status was cemented after he won the Heisman Trophy in December. With the increased fame has come increased scrutiny. Manziel has made headlines for going clubbing after winning his Heisman, sitting courtside at a Mavericks-Heat NBA game, and flashing cash inside an Oklahoma casino. Though Manziel may not have broken any rules in those instances, he may have generated unwanted attention that Texas A&M would like him to avoid.

Texas A&M’s athletic director met with Manziel and his parents to talk about how to best handle his new fame.

“I told them he’s no longer a freshman, and he’s no longer a sophomore, junior or senior. He is a ‘Heisman,’” athletic director Eric Hyman told the San Antonio Express-News on Sunday.

Hyman stressed how life-changing it is to be a Heisman Trophy winner.

“It’s (about) education, and we’ve got to help the family and Johnny with the transition into being a Heisman award winner,” Hyman said. “There are things you have to learn, and we have to help him with that.”

“That’s a special fraternity, but you also have to understand (Manziel) is 20 years old,” Hyman said. “It’s a tremendous responsibility — but it is a responsibility.”

Does this mean all the fun is gone now that Manziel’s had a meeting inside the principal’s office? Let’s hope not. He has been one of the most entertaining athletes over the past few months. Unfortunately, this sounds a heck of a lot like when the Patriots told Rob Gronkowksi that the “summer of Gronk” was over.

My favorite part of the article, "Hyman stressed how life-changing it is to be a Heisman Trophy winner."

I'm certain "Scooby" has already wrecked a few hymens since the ceremony...

Something about this kid just seems off. Maybe its just me maybe its just a little ill will because I didnt think he should be a Heisman guy after one year. It just seems and feels out of regulation. How's my political correctness sound-did I do ok and not just come right out and say how in the hell did a college kid get courtside at a NBA game.

It's been widely reported that his family has money, so this scenario isn't really far-fetched. Granted, he obviously doesn't "get it" and does not appear to present himself as a humble guy to the public. It will be interesting to see how long this goes on for because now everyone will be out looking to nail him for something.

I don't agree with this at all, but the rumor is a few families prominently invested in the University of Texas have hired a PI to catch dirt on the kid.

Talk about sour grapes.

And I truly don't wish him any harm.

I will concede the kid has amazing potential beyond my comprehension of any white QB I can recall.

In Indiana, it is illegal to be in a casino if under twenty-one. It is also illegal to be in possession of alcohol. (In the aford mentioned casino, he was also photographed waving a bottle of Dom Pèrignon champaign about.) No matter how wealthy his family is, where is he getting all that cash?
One of the problems with fame is that your actions draw attention. You can't have it both ways, unless you imitate Nero and conduct your nefarious activities in disguise.

Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M gets speeding ticket - ESPN

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel recently got a speeding ticket near Dallas and a local judge thought it newsworthy enough to post something on Facebook.

Ennis City manager Steve Howerton on Friday issued a news release saying Judge W. Lee Johnson's Facebook post was "insensitive and inappropriate." He said Johnson could face disciplinary action.

Manziel, the Davey O'Brien winner and the AP player of the year, got the ticket in Ennis, a small city about 35 miles south of Dallas. The Ennis court did not immediately respond to a request Friday for a copy of the ticket or for details about the incident, first reported by USA Today.

Johnson, who has worked for the city for 25 years, posted about the ticket on Facebook. Manziel's name wasn't mentioned. Instead, the judge wrote about "a certain unnamed (very) recent Heisman Trophy winner."

Johnson did not return messages left Friday afternoon at his home and law office, and he was not in the municipal court office. Johnson is trying to reach out to the freshman quarterback to apologize, the release said.

What do Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel have to do with Manti Te'o? Matt Mosley and Tim MacMahon mention all three in the same GAC segment.

"Receiving a traffic ticket is not a humorous matter," Howerton said. "Further, it is not the policy of the city of Ennis to indiscriminately publish the identity of traffic ticket recipients or to publicly lecture them."

Manziel has drawn attention recently for Twitter photos that have shown him drinking champagne at a Dallas club with his mom and flashing cash at an Oklahoma casino. It is legal to drink in Texas when a minor is accompanied by a parent. A club manager said nobody saw Manziel drinking.

Last summer -- months before the Manziel was dubbed Johnny Football as he took over college football -- Manziel was arrested after police say he was involved in a fight and produced a fake ID.

Awesome! Now we can all stop talking about Manti!....
