Best of luck to him though. Getting good education, and living in Miami can't be that bad. But it's no secret ND is where he wanted to go. It just stinks with the sanctions coming and than no one goes to the games.

Is this door 100% closed?

Never seen animal house i take it?

I have a feeling that the answer I am leaning is not the most popular one.

In defense of my lack of viewing this so called cinematic work of art, I didn't take you seriously with the whole bombing bit.

Hey, guys. Hypothetically, (oh and get off Grahambo's a$$), what if what happened is something little bitty that happened in the past, that didn't meet the light of day, say because the Don Bosco kids are not even looked at until after football is over, came up in the short time since his info has been available. Say this something is what Notre Dame will not overlook, but something that would be up to the discretion of an admitting university, and is not exactly academic in nature. So a school that is having a hard time recruiting because of impending sanctions may be more likely to overlook it. Does this make sense?

What part?

Not academic in nature?

Disgression of the university, so a university that has the sixty-something best recruiting class because of the threats of impending sanctions may not care (too much)?

Or the fact that it may not have come up because Don Bosco players are not looked at for possible admission until well after other potential classmates are, (see Yuri Wright)?

1. Haven't heard anyone mention this. Not insiders to ND or people with connections to Don Bosco. So, no I don't get how you came up with this situation.

2. Sure, I definitely see schools letting in special players.

3. On page 1 of this thread, 2nd post, Ironman says they offered him. You're telling me they didn't check on how to get him into ND until this late in the game?

U.S. Army All-American Bowl Report

SIAP but couldn't get into Bama either.

-Defensive end Alquadin Muhammad is a steal for Miami (Fla.) if they can get him qualified and ultimately get him on campus and in the program.

-Speaking of Muhammad, he wasn’t a loss for Alabama or Notre Dame. He didn’t have the option of going to either. Rutgers was the program that this was a blow to. The Scarlet Knights are getting better at keeping the top New Jersey talent at home for sure, but this one sort of stung. Still, you never know. If he doesn’t make it to Miami in the fall, any school can circle back if he elects to open it back up.

Don't we normally offer like 200 players per cycle? I know we do take a look at players' academics before we offer, but I don't know how hard of a look we take right off the bat ... we may wait till we know if they have serious interest in ND before we take an exhaustive look.

But we don't know what the issue with AQM is, and we shouldn't assume that the staff was caught off guard by it. They may have known of this issue all along. We've been recruiting Hollins seriously for a a LONG time, even while rumors were flying that AQM was a silent commit. At the time I didn't understand why we were still bothering with Hollins, but now I do ... he was a backup plan in case AQM couldn't get his academic house in order.

Look back through the beginning of the thread. He was a top target that showed interest from the start.

I would say the 2nd paragraph makes the most sense.

Just FYI to everyone but he didn't qualify for 'Bama and a lot of people are now saying he won't qualify for Miami and will head to JC/prep school.

My dad told me that his dad says the academic issue is all smoke but he did not really get into what al's choice is

It seems this is a classic case of someone not wanting to say it's academics because that's an embarrassing thing to talk about. It makes sense... no one ever likes to say "I didn't work hard enough in school" or "I wasn't smart enough" or anything like that... but it was reported by Alabama people that he couldn't get qualified for them, and now it appears he might not get qualified for Miami either according to the rumor-mongerers out there.

Best of luck to AQM... he'll be a special player wherever he does end up.

Wow! I hate it for him, but he will make his way back in a year or two. Can't stress enough how much I wanted him to be part of the class! Sucks man, it just sucks.

Wow, this is crazy. If he can't academically qualify for Bama, he obviously wasn't even close for ND. He is way off on an admissions requirement and/or he has multiple areas that are prohibiting his admittance to ND. Hopefully he gets it all straightened out in due time, regardless of where he ultimately ends up.

Whatever it is, someone needs to look at the school counceler(s) at Don Bosco Prep and figure out what they are doing to not help these kids with admission requirements. I know you can't put all the blame on the councelers but come on man.

I was talking to an educator very knowledgeable about the New York, NJ area and he stated that Bosco was not even one of those schools that had to take the diocesan tests for admission. It apparently was out of the Prep school, school. I don't know if this is true, but I cannot believe with the emphasis placed on all education in the last 20 to 30 years, that this school cannot compete academically. So, I go back to the beginning. I think he had something non academic that caused a problem. Not test scores. People that don't do well on testing are consummately aware of minimum standards. This was something different.

I had to take a standardized test for admission. There's a first hand account for you.
