ESPN's Hannah Storm returns 3 weeks after grill accident | Fox News

SIAP, was news to me. "Fortunate" "Gratitude" Great attitude!

"ESPN anchor Hannah Storm returns to the air New Year's Day, exactly three weeks after she was seriously burned in a propane gas grill accident at her home.

Storm suffered second-degree burns on her chest and hands, and first-degree burns to her face and neck. She lost her eyebrows and eyelashes, and roughly half her hair.

Storm will host ABC's telecast of the 2013 Rose Parade on Tuesday. Her left hand will be bandaged and she said viewers might notice a difference in her hair texture where extensions have been added.

...

I didn't see my face until the next day and you wonder how it's going to look," she said. "I was pretty shocked. But my overarching thought was I've covered events with military members who have been through a lot worse than me, and they've come through. I kept thinking, `I can do this. I'm fortunate."'

...

Storm wants to anchor "SportsCenter" in Bristol, Conn., next Sunday. After that, the Notre Dame alum is ready to go in person to watch the No. 1 Irish play Alabama in the national championship game at Miami. She said the school reached out after hearing about her injuries and had been very supportive.

"More than anything, I feel gratitude," she said. "Something like this really makes you appreciate everything you have, even the chance to wake up on New Year's Day and do your job."

I like her a lot now. The fact that she was out there grilling makes her hot, no pun intended.

This looks like a headline to an Onion article. It's good to read that she's recovering.

Wow, I had no idea that this had happened. I was just telling my ten-year-old daughter about her Domer status yesterday while watching the one minute of the parade that we watched. Glad to hear that she is recovering so well!

She was cute when she was young. I think she's gotten better looking as she's gotten older. Recovering from serious burns is pure torture. Hope the best for her.

I'm really glad she's ok. As a television viewer, I don't care much for her, but you never want to see anyone go through something like that. I just wish she would dress more appropriately for a 60 year old woman or whatever she is. Nothing is worse than a past-their-prime woman dressing like she is 25.

Sorry Rhodes but I have no problem with the way she dresses.

I think she's 51.

I agree....she also flirts with the viewing audience, which as a viewer I find a bit insulting. I dont watch sportscenter because the anchor is attractive or not, I watch because I want sports information while getting ready for work in the morning. But If hannah didnt flirt with the viewing audience, she would have to rely more on substance, and ESPN cant have that.

Contrast Hannah to someone like Erin Burnett on CNN; Erin Burnett is smart, attractive, knows her stuff, dresses appropriately for a broadcast anchor/host, and doesnt have to rely on flirtation to keep an audience.

I dont have anything against Hannah, ive always more or less 'liked' her, but when she went to ESPN and began overtly flirting with the 'viewing audience' it totally turned me off to her and to a certain extent, ESPN. Coinciding with her arrival at ESPN, was alot of other ppl leaving, and tons of bad publicity about the inner workings of ESPN. Tony Kornheiser even got suspended over comments about Hannah's on-air attire.

We know what ESPN used to be and what it is now. You think that may have been a way to attract more viewers? LOL I used to watch ESPN all the time, but except for games or to catch scores, I haven't turned it on to watch regularly scheduled programming in years.
