Very true, diaco said preseason that they feel if they have a big defense they'll have a good defense.

There is an update on II of some scout team players and they talk about jones a fair amount. Quotes from Zachary Martin talking about his potential. It really seems that this kid just needs to get the physicality of the game down and he could be really good. It's great we have the luxury of redshirting him.

Isn't that like saying "person X will make a great drummer, he just needs to get the drumming part down". Seems like an awful lot left to work on to me...

I don't think so at all. In high school he was just bigger than everybody now he has to train his body to take a beating from another player who is as strong. Most college football players in the trenches need to get used to the physical pounding of big boy football. That's why it's very rare for offensive lineman and defensive lineman to play alot. Look at Sheldon day he plays well in short bursts, he couldn't play a whole game at that level.

Really stoked to see this guy on the field next year-him, Day, Nix, Tuitt, and the rest. Could be even more special than this year.

@NDatRivals: Who has "jumped out" at Brian Kelly in bowl practices? Kelly notes Jarrett Grace, Jarron Jones. "There was a number of guys."

If this kid takes on the work ethic like Tuitt, Teo, etc, he can be a superstar. He dwarfed people in his highlight tapes and has blue chip size.

He seems to have changed his body up quite a bit. He should be a good contributor next year.

A few words I heard from him convinced me he had what it takes mentally to do it; and you cannot underestimate how big this guy is and how high his upside is . . .

I went against this kid in a football camp his senior year (my Junior) being as I was a 6' 2" 205 lb DE/OLB and OT in the making (we stopped using TE's) I got demolished. At least I never got pancaked or reverse pancaked. He was a beast in our area for three years, but his motor was the problem. It seemed like he would get caught going through the motions and not pursuing the ball carrier. This is the main reason he dropped near the end of the recruiting year. I hope this changes and he can be a force next year.

I will admit I've wondered about how JJ will turn out. Has the measurables to be a monster for us, but I do wish he'd lay off of the social media sites. He has to lead the team in tweets and facebook posts, lol.

I hope he's not one of those guys we look at in 4 years and say 'man, if only you could take player x's heart and put it in Jones's body, imagine how good he could have been'.

Also he was at my prom last year and he "dougied" on the dancefloor. I will not lie he has some moves. At that point he was signed with Notre Dame and I bumped into him and wished him luck. I hope it works out for him because he really is a nice guy just hope he finds that drive this year.

Yeah, I'm a witness of his dance moves as well. Lol. Notre Dame has a thing called "Domer Fest" every year on orientation weekend for the freshman. All 3 schools are invited (Notre Dame, Holy Cross, and St. Mary's) and I saw pretty much all of the freshman football players there. Chris Brown and Nicky Baratti were dancing with these very fine females, and yes I was pretty jealous. The center was really crowded and it was all a bunch of sweaty grinding. Then I saw JJ and Sheldon dancing in the center, and I though he had some good moves as well. Haha

Be honest, were you jealous of the ladies or the guys? Lol.

Lol. Definitely jealous of the guys for several reasons. First, you get to play football at Notre Dame. Second, you get ALL the hot girls at Notre Dame and you have an unlimited amount of booty calls.

Brockport High School. Undefeated my Junior and Senior season then chocked in Sectionals. My junior year we were more focused on the championship game against Jarron and Aquinas.

I may be in the minority here but I expect the reps opposite Tuitt to be split fairly evenly between Day and Jones, with Jarron seeing more time on 1st and 2nd and Day seeing more reps in obvious passing situations.
