Texas Longhorns suspend Case McCoy, Jordan Hicks for Valero Alamo Bowl - ESPN

Texas quarterback Case McCoy and linebacker Jordan Hicks have been suspended and sent home a day before the Valero Alamo Bowl for breaking team rules, a source within the school's administration told ESPN.com Friday.

McCoy, the brother of current NFL quarterback and former Longhorn Colt McCoy, started one game this season and five games last season. Hicks was a starter who has missed most of the Longhorns' season due to a hip injury.

Texas coach Mack Brown, speaking at a Friday afternoon news conference, did not identify the players or say which rules had been broken. The Longhorns play Oregon State on Saturday.

On Friday morning, KENS-TV in San Antonio quoted San Antonio police as saying that two Texas players were being investigated regarding sexual assault allegations.

No charges have been filed. A copy of a police report emailed to ESPN.com states the alleged incident occurred Friday from 2 to 2:40 a.m. All names beyond the officers involved have been redacted.

"No arrests have been (The case) is still being currently investigated," Matthew Porter of the San Antonio police told HornsNation's Carter Strickland. "There is no timetable for the investigation" to be handed over to the district attorney, he said.

Brown said he would meet with the team later in the day to explain the situation, and "then you move forward. You have policies that you go by."

Sexual misconduct is the rumor right? Didn't see that coming from McCoy (no sarcasm).

Let's hold judgment until more is known. Remember that an important player on our team faced similar allegations.

I read somewhere else (can't remember where) that she was out with them then invited them back with her.. Seems fishy

Guilty until proven innocent. They should never play another down!

Case is uglier than Colt, if that's even possible... so this is kind of surprising.

At this point they are allegations. I agree with the University sending them home while its investigated further, but I would also hate for them to miss the bowl game if its found baseless.

UT is doing the right thing by sending them home. The allegations are serious, the system will let the process play out. Hats off to Mack for at least taking some action...recent off field events at OU seem to be handled differently.

I've read that in several articles, she was partying with them and invited them back to her hotel room. Definitely seems fishy.

An aside, one of the smaller sites reported it was a Texas Tech alumni... not sure if it matters but you know they brought it up to insinuate that she did it to discredit the UT players and that nothing really happened. Of course the fact that I brought it up here means that it at least partially worked.

Best case scenario Case McCoy broke curfew during the bowl game, got drunk, and sat and watched his teammate bang some chick. Questionable decision-making indeed.

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! Far too many cautionary tales to jump to any conclusions.

Interested to see how this all plays out. Makes sense to send them home for breaking curfew.

After the Duke lacrosse fiasco of a few years ago, I'm more inclined to wait and let all the facts come out before jumping to conclusions. At best though, the guys were breaking curfew and should be sent home for that reason.

Exactly.

And they'd have certainly been distractions if they had remained with the team.
