Johnny Manziel sits courtside at the Mavs game while TNT analysts question how he got the tickets (VIDEO) | Dr. Saturday - Yahoo! Sports

But on Thursday night, he found himself in courtside seats at the Dallas Mavericks-Miami Heat basketball game, which called into question how he landed such a posh spot during such a good game.

“How does a college kid get courtside seats to a Mavs game? Those are expensive seats,” analyst Steve Kerr pondered aloud during the TNT broadcast of the game. “I’m just going to throw that out there.”

After Kerr was asked whether he was trying to get Manziel in trouble with the NCAA, Kerr continued his pondering while not-so-subtly casting an NCAA rule-breaking shadow over the entire SEC.

They said they investigated and there were no rules violations. College kids can have rich friends with rich daddies.

Reminds me of that time that Eifert and Goodman got tickets to the Ryder Cup... Someone better start investigating...

Lots of parents dump money on their kids that have a full ride on things that aren't school, since they don't have to pay for school. It is unprofessional for Kerr for to say that, but justified for him to think that.

If I'm not mistaken, one of the announcers indicated that he had watched Manziel walk down and sit in the seat during halftime. If the seat was vacant, and Manziel just noticed and hopped into it, then there's nothing to even discuss. Most of these kids can probably afford to buy a ticket to an NBA game. He may have paid for nosebleed seats, but ended up courtside after noticing that no one was sitting there. An user recognizes him, and voila..........

First off, that's illegal. And there's no way that's what happened.

Exactly. And even if the kid did do something "wrong" then it would only further show how terrible the NCAA is.

No it's not. Have you ever sat courtside at an NBA game?

No, but I've never won a Heisman trophy, either. I see empty courtside seats at NBA games with frequency. Not always, but it DOES happen. All I'm saying is that some usher may have recognized him, and allowed him to sit in those seats, "just this one time".

It's funny you say that, I work in the Houston jail and a man was arrested today and charged with a Class B Misdemeanor for moving seats at the Texans game.

Wtf.. thats stupid.

Yeah I think so too, but for whatever reason he ended up in jail. But he said he will make sure every HPD officer will be fired, he is going to sue the city for 100k+, and he plans to have a sit down meeting with the owner of the Texans to tell him about the officers at the stadium.

Since it's Texas I assume he's getting the chair?

I think that is scheduled for sometime in January. They have a quick process, no sitting around for 30 years to die.

Ok, so having courtside seats to a big NBA game and taking a picture with a wad of cash doesn't mean that anything "violation-worthy" has happened, but seriously, what does your gut say.

The worst, absolute worst part about this is that if/when something comes out and his Heisman goes the way of Reggie Bush, the world-class human who came in second still won't get the trophy.

This isn't Miss America where "Should the winner fail to meet her obligations.." The second place winner stands up.

His parents have money. I hope he spent that at the strip club after this photo. Kid wins the Heisman and people will dig up anything they can on him. Did it with Tebow, RG3 now Manziel.

It's always a classy move to post yourself holding a wad of cash. My parents would kill me if I posted a similar photo.
