First Generation...I was fascinted with Tim Brown as a kid, a few years later the catholics v convicts game cemented my ND alignment. My father was/is a big USC guy. I was able to take my father to the USC vs ND game this year and we had a great time. My father lost a previous bet with me, so he had to wear a 'ND Football' shirt to the game....it was priceless

First because I'm first to go to college. Parents are immigrants so they never got into sports

Close call between 1st and 2nd. Im from Kokomo and growing up my grandparents watched and cheered for all IN teams, and my parents werent into sports much. My uncle went to Wabash and i remember watching some ND games at his frat house as a kid in the 80's.

First generation.
Played in the catholic football league in East Chicago, Indiana, and ND is preached there.

My family on my dad's side hates ND because my grandpa's brother was expelled from the school for leading a protest of Latino students in the 70's.

4th Generation. My late great grandfather went to ND become a priest only leave the catholic church and go protestant in order marry my great grandmother. My grandfather delivered newspapers at ND when he was in his teens, and several of his brothers were employeed by the university.

1st generation - sort of.

My dad and brother are big tOSU fans. I never really got into the buckeyes. We lived on the OH/IN border and the IN television stations were always talking about Notre Dame. I fell in love with everything ND. After a couple of years my mom(wish she were still here to enjoy this season) started cheering for the Irish as well. So, I was the first to love them but brought my mom along with me(yeah, I was a momma's boy).

4th generation actually. My great grandfather was a huge fan, and apparently when to watch the Irish the only time they played in the Rose Bowl.

When I was born my grandmother was extatic I was a boy and immediately proclaimed she would decorate my room Notre Dame. I had no choice, which is fine by me!

I guess I would be a second generation. My dad liked the Irish, but I don't remember him listening to the games on the radio (yeah, I'm that old). I used to get up on Sunday morning back in the 60's and watch the replay with Lindsey Nelson (and now we move on to further action in the 3rd quarter).

I have four boys and a girl. Four graduated from Purdue, but are huge Irish fans and have been since they were little. Four of the five now have their own kids and they are being raised "Irish" as well. Heck, I've even converted my son in law who is an IU grad. Yesterday he tells me he's turning one of his rooms into a Notre Dame room. I'm proud to say I've done my part.

As far as I know second generation. My dad who has passed on, was a big ND fan. We lived in South Bend and the surrounding area all my childhood and early adult life. Really miss watching the Irish with him. We watched the 88' title game together when I was 12. This year has brought back a lot of memories from the last championship.

I'm at least 3rd. One of my earliest Notre Dame memories was when I was 4 or 5. We were at my grandparents house, and I was sitting on the floor watching a game with my father, his father, my uncle, and my brother. It was a great feeling, like my induction into the men's club.

3rd Generation. My grandfather came over from Ireland on a boat back around the 1920's and became a cop in Brooklyn. He became a huge Notre Dame fan... simply because the Irish (mostly Catholic) that immigrated here were treated like crap, and Notre Dame was an outlet; something our people could say was ours.

Sadly, I was only just about to turn four years old when the last championship was won, so I can't say that I've truly seen a title being won by the Fighting Irish. Our grandfather was dedicated to paying for my family's entire tuition to Notre Dame, had we been accepted. He later died when my oldest sister was a Sophomore in high school.

Irish fan until I die.

1st... My parents hated ND for a while there... I won them over some time in the last ten years... Now they both brag to people about how much passion and knowledge their oldest has for Notre Dame...

I am 3rd generation. My mom's family is made up entirely of Irish fans and was my grandfather who was held as the "king" in our family in terms of Irish fandom ha. But my dad is also a huge fan so I have both him and my grandfather to thank for my allegiance ha.
