Saw this shirt posted here awhile ago and no one said anything negative. Clausen was a terrific player for us and has never gotten a fair shake in the NFL. If he had the 2012 defense in '09, he'd have a NC and a Heisman.

Best QB I've seen at ND (started watching in the Powlus days), and that includes Quinn. Support ND guys when they are supporting the University.... always.

The shirt is ok. I agree its a little tired, Catholics vs whatever. Especially in season when our captain, team leader, and Heisman candidate is Mormon. Bama fan had field day with that around these parts. I was shocked they knew.

As for Jimmy, his final season for the Irish was stellar. 3800 yards passing, close to 30 tds against 4 ints. If he is on the current team he and Manti may have gone to NY together. He returned and graduated after declaring for the draft after his junior season. Though he was a little on the arrogant side he certainly played well and I respect him a bunch.

My problem with the shirt is that it would be more appropriate if we played West Virginia or a team from Kentucky. Now the Golden Domers vs Mobile Homers is hilarious.

First cousin marriage is allowed in these states under the following circumstances:

Arizona- if both are 65 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it haha

I like the shirt, but love Jimmy. Man, he was so good his junior year. My first ND game ever, I'll never forget. In a loss to Navy, JC went 27/29, 454 yards, 5 TDs, zero INTS (this is all from memory, so if I'm a number or two off, have mercy). Jimmy's always pro-ND on twitter, too. I have zero problem with him and am so glad he came here.

This...

Jimmy came with swag. Maybe too much. Ultimately his personal swag wrote checks that the collective team couldn't cash. Could he have been more humble, less swaggish? Sure. If the collective team around him was better developed, and they won a few BCS games, we'd all be singing his swaggering praises.

Yep, and he would be known as "Jimmy Football"

You folks are looking at the tame side of shirts. There are others that are a lot more offensive.

Some of the comments are great. I love the "Micks vs Hicks" idea since it's offensive to both sides.

I hate to be that guy, but I just looked it up, and I am assuming you mean the 2009 game. He was 37/51, 452, 2 TD's, one pick.

I only looked it up because I couldnt believe that he would have thrown for 5 td's and we still would have lost to Navy. We lost 23-21.

Great call on the passing yards though, impressive memory.

Wow I was way off actually. I thought he had 5, but not even close, lol. Too many underage drinks before the game I guess.

Don't feel bad. I have been quoted as saying he only threw one int all season. Not sure where that came from.

Ordered it already.

You guys need to lighten up. Worse stuff is said about ND down here.

This is hilarious. And good for Jimmy for getting behind his team, even if it was a little tasteless.
Here Here irishpat. I live down here also and I hear some pretty nasty stuff. Trust me the vile hatred in the south for Notre Dame goes far beyond that shirt.

BOOM! I loved Jimmy and his "attitude". If he was the QB on this team with this defense he would be an all-time favorite by everyone. He talked trash (which every football player does) but the people around him couldn't always back him up. He put up great numbers and was tougher than people think. (Game winning final drive against Purdue in '09 anyone?)

Plus a guy who is in the NFL walking the streets in South Bend willing to put a phone call on hold and take a picture with me is an ok dude in my book.

Not sure about that:

There is no evidence that Jimmy would have submitted, I mean played for Brian Kelly. After all, he had the chance, and with hindsight it would have been a wiser choice than he made.

Jimmy was a great drop back passer out of a pro set; don't think he would have thrived in Kelly's O.

Personality wise, I think the most successful recruits Kelly has had are about as far opposite as Jimmy Clausen.

Tommy Rees did ok. Clausen would have lit up the score board and that first year 8-5 would have been a lot better.

Que? He was coming off of an incredible year and he got drafted on the first day. You saying he obviously made the wrong choice in leaving is completely false. A new coach was coming in with a system that was as opposite as can be. If anything he most likely made the correct choice.

Don't forget, Tommy Rees was our QB for a year, and he's probably less athletic than Jimmy. Jimmy would have been great in the spread, imo. He made incredible reads, got the ball out quickly, and his accuracy was the best I've ever seen at ND.

Didn't know you knew Jimmy Clausen personally. I now envy you.

Now there are Bama fans talking about printing up thousands of Champions vs Pedophiles t-shirts. People need to stay classy. Indiana and Alabama both are states people make fun of.
