I know it's a great time of the year for time to slow down, but this game cannot come fast enough. What do you think will be the first play of the game? I believe that ND will come out passing and let the pass set up the run, much like we did versus USC. What do you guys think?

old play from the Weis book, fake dive left with half roll right into the short side and launch into stands.

I would love nothing more than play-action, all seam routes with Daniels, Eifert, and Brown...GET DEEP!!!

Tommy Rees lines up in the slot, on the snap Golson hands off to Wood on a power sweep. Wood flips to Rees on a reverse. Then Rees throws back across the field to hit Chris Brown deep on a 50 yard bomb.

I suspect it might be a play action with a roll out to put some pressure on the D and give them a lot to think about going forward.

Does anyone know what we did for the first play of every game?

Tommy must've put a rocket launcher on his Christmas List... ;)

Defenses are always on high alert for a home run attempt on the first play of the game.

I like a play action short pass. Nothing special but something that moves the chains or gets us to a 2nd and short.

How does Bama start out against ND? Do they throw it often like did against LSU in the title game? Or is there a certain amount of pride and perhaps stubborness that they want to establish the dominance of their OL right away and they try stuff it down NDs throat?

Slip screen to Riddick or Wood out of the backfield, I've been calling for it all year and the first play against an aggressive Bama defense would be a great time.

That, or I would like to see that reverse play where Golson sprints right and delays a handoff going to one of the RBs sprinting back to the left.

Designed roll right. Cuts down on reads, gets Golson warmed up doing what he is comfortable with, let's him either run or throw short or long.

Golson to Jones on a short out.
Also would love to see him hit Eifert on a seam route.

Bama's first play will probably be what everyone has tried this year trying to work the sidelines.

I hope we don't see too many of those screens out wide. Those are problematic.

Eifert. He is gonna be a difficult cover for this 'Bama team. Get him involved early and often and it will open up the deep pass later in the game.

Play action across the middle (short pass)

EG to TE basically telling Bama, "If you want to beat us, you're going to need to stop this from happening all day."

First, I hope Alabama receives the opening kickoff. I would like EG to sit out the VERY first football series and try to get a little settled before taking the field.

Second, I think the shotgun run/pass option. Alabama hasn't seen what ND can do in person and despite watching tape, BK might want to give EG the option to throw or handoff or pull it down to run.

I wonder if 'Bama will try to bring heat to start the game.

Id love to see notre dame come out and do a 3 back 4 horseman type offense. Think it would be really cool, even if it was just for one play.

Would love it but if Rees throws a 50 yd bomb and completes it I would fall over dead!

Troy Niklas will roll off a block for a short pass in the seam, 12 yard gain.

Alabama has an awakening; ah hell, there's two of them. Sets the tone for the whole game.

Making Niklas an early option really creates problems for them.

We will see a ton. They will attack Keivare with them I suspect. I'm not too worried about that being a game changer though.

Motta, Farley and Shumate are going to have to help a lot on those as well as be ready for the run. I see this game being toughest on these guys.

Yeldon run to the outside, with a KLM tackle for a 3 yd loss, if they start with the ball.

The LB clear out motion play we ran against OU a few times where we send someone in motion across the formation and the LB follows, then Golson gashes them up the middle for a huge gain. Instant respect for our mobile QB and opens up the field the rest the game. If we start with the ball.

I think the statement comes from hitting them in the mouth right from the jump. 10 play drive, 70/30 run/pass. Theo off tackle for 6 yards to start it off.
