Manti Te'o for Heisman

Im thinking Johnny Football won it. Not too much talk about him this week and i think it's because ESPN is saving it for tonight.

It would be nice to have Manti get the Heisman because it would give actual meaning to the award...not the player with the best stats who has a "Heisman moment". The current interpretation of the Heisman makes it almost impossible for anyone other than a running QB to ever win this award again.

I'm more excited about the 30 for 30 about Bo Jackson than the Heisman...after all Bo is the second best baseball/football star that i've ever seen in my lifetime...next to the Shark of course.

Johnny Jailtime is not the most outstanding player in college football. Stats do not make you outstanding, but it's just the evolution of this award. I've been hoping for Te'o but I just don't think they'll vote a defensive player for the Heisman.

You are probably right.........but, lets cut the crap, Johnny Manziel is only going to win this b/c of few reasons:

1 - Offensive Player Bias, as BK said, it's time to just call this an Offensive Award, they don't take defense seriously when evaluating so it's really not about the 'best player' in College Football.
2- Every QB that has played in Sumlin's Offense has put up amazing numbers, Johnny is no different and not unique but everyone puts a premium on offense when voting.
3 - SEC is a brotherhood, they will vote their block for Manziel, they are blind to anything outside of the SEC so Manti has no shot with the southern Heisman voters.

Manti is an amazing football player and an even better human being, Johnny sure seems like a nice kid but he's not in Manti's class right now.

I agree with all of this. It's a damn shame Manti won't be hoisting the bronze trophy.

That is so awesome of him to say something like that. He truly loves everyone associated with this team. Can you imagine what that means to Nix?

To be fair, they asked Manziel first and he said his center. Manti followed suit and said Lou.

Yeah it is a little disheartening seeing so many people on Twitter that so convinced Manti is going win. Just hate to see them set up for disappointment.

Like any ND fan I want Manti to win the Heisman but I think all of the bashing of Johnny Manziel is out of line. Manziel has without a doubt stood out this year, he has been outstanding. Manti is without a doubt outstanding as well but it would not be the travesty that some of you are claiming if Manziel were to win.

"Outstanding" does not equate to most valuable. If the Heisman was for most valuable player, then Manti has to win. The Heisman is not for greatest team leader. Again, if it were, manti is the only defensable choice.

So please have a bit of respect for Manti and stop bad mouthing his competition for the trophy. If Manti wins, he will not win because Manziel is unworthy, he will win because Manti Te'o is so outstanding that all of the prejudices against defensive players will have been set aside and voters will have voted for a great defensive player over a great offensive player.
