Manti Te'o has been named the Walter Camp Player of the Year

Only 3rd defensive player to ever win it.

I was surprised they didn't say he was the recipient of the groza award. Even though he never kicked an extra point everyone knows he could so why not?

One thing you see the Haters bring up is his being 59th in the nation in total tackles. I know he had something like 40 more than anyone else on the team. Has anyone spent the time to look at the percent of plays he was involved in? With the defense being so good, I would imagine the number of plays the team defended was way less then if he dominated on a poor defense. They did not face too many long drives and I know in a few games he made most of the tackles in the first half because he wasn't needed in the second.

Of the three finalists: Collin Klein, Johnny Manziel, and Manti Te'o...only Te'o has been the most consistently productive all season long. Klein has had one bad game against Baylor, Manziel had a game or two in which he did not light up the stat sheet.

Te'o has also led the Irish to the BCS National Championship Game.

Te'o is the MVP therefore he deserves the Heisman

The End

I think if you look at the top 50 or so tacklers, only 3 play on top 25 teams.

Take a look at the top 10 tacklers in the NCAA this year. Not a single one plays on a team that finished within the top 50 in DFEI.

Elite defenses allow very few offensive plays per game. This season, ND allowed only 65.8/ game, which is good for 5th fewest nationally. That's 10% below the national average.

Conversely, Sumlin's offense is uptempo and produces a very high volume of plays; 85.2/ game this year, which ranks 3rd nationally. That's 17% above the national average.

If you remove some of this systemic bias by boosting Te'o's stats by 10% and reducing Manziel's by 17%, you get a much better picture of their relative achievements.

Thanks for the great information.

He's gonna win it all.

And the Heisman.

Question is, what are we going to do about the liars that are paid to report, but are really promoting their own man? If this is true, it will be the second election in as many months where operatives don't see any need to act with integrity. Ironic huh, Manti's big difference is what he brings to the table with humility, integrity and character.

I hate to say it...I'm still hoping...but I think the Maxwell is the "kiss of death".

How many have won both in the same year? (I think I heard 3...)

But hey, considering what has happened this year and how awesome it's been.....I woudln't be suprised.

And Manti needs a statue.

Sorry to burst your bubbles but Manti did not win the Heisman. It's unfortunate, but the truth.

Manti is truly more deserving.

You are probably right.........but, lets cut the crap, Johnny Manziel is only going to win this b/c of few reasons:

1 - Offensive Player Bias, as BK said, it's time to just call this an Offensive Award, they don't take defense seriously when evaluating so it's really not about the 'best player' in College Football.
2- Every QB that has played in Sumlin's Offense has put up amazing numbers, Johnny is no different and not unique but everyone puts a premium on offense when voting.
3 - SEC is a brotherhood, they will vote their block for Manziel, they are blind to anything outside of the SEC so Manti has no shot with the southern Heisman voters.

Manti is an amazing football player and an even better human being, Johnny sure seems like a nice kid but he's not in Manti's class right now.

Good luck to Manti and thank you for the 4 years.

Don't forget:

4 - ESPN has been slobbering all over JF's jock ever since the Bama win. They completely disregard the losses and his arrest. To them, JF is the 2nd coming of RG3.

Repping ND as always. Said being a Golden Domer is the biggest honor. And that he'd choose Big Lou if he had a Heisman vote.[/QUOTE]

That is so awesome of him to say something like that. He truly loves everyone associated with this team. Can you imagine what that means to Nix?
