For my incredible father it must have been the epic goal line stand against USC! He passed away Tuesday due to a heart attack. He was 87, tough old farmer from Indiana. He was the sweetest, but toughest dude ever. He got to leave us with ND #1. My mom said he could hardly watch the end he was so nervous. He will be smiling on the Irish on January 7th!

My condolences to you and your family....Your pops will be sitting next to my gramps cheering the Irish to another National Championship.....

Aloha Bro...

#1. I thought it was gonna be a qb controversy from then on out. Not what I wanted.
#5 definitely next but Pitt has always played us tough. I never like playing them no matter how good they are.

That being said reading these comments, if there is one thing I have learned through this year, is that our team has faced a ton of adversity this year and overcame all. I dont think Alabama or Georgia have even come close to facing the situations we have this year.

Alabama had a come back win late against LSU.....ok and the one time someone came out and smacked them in the mouth, they never recovered and lost.

UGA totally got f'ed up by USC and could not do a thing to stop it... The florida game was basically an example of how to do your very best to lose a football game and still win. They recovered but still struggled with UT and UK.

I think we roll. I have tons of confidence in this team and our coaches. Time after time through out the year we made the stops. We made the catches. We made the 3rd down conversions. The coaches made the right decisions. And we had a few lucky bounces of the ball. Tha can be said every year. AND we have Tommy Rees in case Everett's helmet comes off.

Bring'em on.

My prayers are with you and your family. I can see him right now sitting in the "bleachers in the sky" ready to root on the Irish to the NC.

I'm sorry for your loss...I'm not sure how I'll deal with that day, but I know it'll be one of the toughest on this earth for me. Prayers for you and yours.

...but its really cool he got to see #1 one more time...

Thanks for the kind words. It is tough but he was truly happy over the weekend to see the Irish beat USC and stay #1!

Michigan, when it seemed the improbably Denard last minute comeback would happen again.

Had to be the Pitt game. When "the call on the field stood" for Cierre's fumble, I actually thought I was going to throw up.

Right after the Purdue game and right before the usc game were honorable mentions for me. You should have seen how fast my leg was bouncing up and down waiting for that one to start.

My daughter came in the room w/one of her friends...her friend says what the heck is wrong with your dad...all I heard was Shhhhh (raised 'em right so far) ...we all stood there watching...

when they missed...I kinda stumbled about three steps back into my recliner and exhaled...my daughter went back to talking normally...her friend says...is he always like that...my daughter's voice trailing away says...on the Good Days!
Awesome story. Of course, there is no way in hell my daughter (if I had one) would even be allowed in the house with a friend on gameday.

I've had a unique situation all season with Notre Dame games. I work Saturday nights starting at 7pm. I took the night off for Oklahoma and USC, and I left work at 10pm for the Michigan State game (watched the first half on NBC Sports Live app). I also watched the ENTIRE Michigan game on my phone (barely worked that night lol).

Anyway, college games run so freaking long that I've missed the end of almost all the home games. My dad had to call me and tell me that Rees came in and drove down for the winning FG against Purdue.

But the Pitt game was the worst. I walked out of my house literally right after Golson threw in the INT in the end zone. I had tears in my eyes as I was driving to work. I could not ****ing believe the whole season was ruined; typical Irish. Then my phone starting BLOWING UP. My dad was calling, my friends were texting me... so I got on ESPN on my phone and was following the PBP. Then the Cierre fumble happened. I was seriously about to cry while talking to customers. Some-****ing-how their kicker missed, and we won. Absolute shock.

Sucks that the Irish contributed to his death, but what a way to leave this world: with the Fighting Irish #1!

Condolences to you and your family. Go Irish.

Every game I'm pretty stressed out. But honestly, i get much more stressed out when we play worse teams. We frequently play down to our opponents.

Although, I had some big time butterflies before the OU game!

Pitt field goal. Was sitting 4 rows behind the band on that side. Had to watch the fans to see the result. It is almost surreal still.

Next closest is the entire scUM game and D-Rob in general. Or Stanford's sack on Golson, I thought that turned the entire game around.

Easily, easily the Pitt game. Once we were down 14 early in the 4th I had kind of begun to accept that we'd be 7-1, still with a really good shot at a BCS bowl. But then we came roaring back to tie it, only to allow Pitt to line up for a chip shot game winning field goal. At this point I was supposed to have gone to friends house about an hour ago, but I didn't want to pry myself away from the TV for even the five minutes it took to get there. So here I was, home alone, standing about two feet from the TV, bent over with my hands on my knees, afraid to look up, but when that FG sailed wide left I yelled louder than I think I'd ever yelled in my entire life up to that point (I broke that record two weeks later at my high school's football game). I went from depression to acceptance to euphoria to heartbreak back to euphoria in a span of about an hour, and I guarantee I'll die about 10 years earlier than I would've if I hadn't watched that game.

Pitt was the only time this season I was worried. Ironically, it was on during my cousins funeral, the ending kind of saved the day. Maybe we should be thanking my cousin for wide right? A nice little unexpected gust of wind.

Its funny. My earliest memory of him, he was like 4 years older than me, was him talking about the field goal kick against BC in 93 that ended our NC hopes. Maybe he decided to do something about it this time lol

When the football team stormed the court last night after beating UK. I just kept thinking "don't roll an ankle or worse in the melee."

Two times- before the Michigan game (they have had our number the past. 3 years and I hate them) and during Pitt. Really thought that game was lost.
