Nooooooo!!!!! My mom used to sing that song all the time, and now I use that song (among others) to sing my daughter to sleep (but instead of "Johnny Angel" it's "Alyssa Angel, how I love you..."). Holy hell, I listened/watched for only 15 seconds, but that damn vision is seared into my brain. How could you Golden???

Or as Nancy Kerrigan would say, "Whyyyyyyyyyy? Whyyyyyyyyyyy?????"

Um, ND, please say that your mom could carry a tune better. Please, I could not stand the nightmare of knowing there was a poor abused little NDinLA somewhere being sung to by . . . THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS! ND, I am sure your mom was a wonderful singer and unlike the video here, with your mom it was only the song selection, not her - everything else.

Note to everyone else: Oh, God! Can you imagine with that song and that everything else. Just the possibility that it ever happened, before this video! We all just need to be thoughtful and extra kind to ND; can you imagine? Even that there was a chance . . .

Oh, the humanity!

Hahahaha! Sorry man, I didn't know. Hopefully you didn't accidentally sing "Johnny Football" as you were singing your daughter to sleep tonight.

This video is a warning to all: Be cautious before committing drunken whims to tape and broadcasting them through social media.

It was a sweet (syrupy, as was the pop milieux of the time) song. This adaptation is an abomination on oh, so many levels.

Shelly Fabares would be outraged. It had nothing to do with Coach Hayden and the Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles.

Johnny, I get your thread.

I went to Michigan, and graduated in 2011. Let me tell you what, Tate Forcier was the next coming of Christ. All around campus, there were new shirts of "Let the FORCIER be with you!" Tate Forcier, for at least that first season, was a God. At bars he would do whatever he wanted. He would drink for free. Whatever.

But I don't see the same character issues in Manziel. I see the same hype at least from a campus perspective, but I don't see any other similarities beyond that. Although Manziel was arrested previously, right?

LOLOLOL. Now every time I look at the kid I'm going to wait for him to blow up on someone/something. He might just have that crazy look in his eye...

Enlightening article in the NYtimes. It sounds like Manziel has been a "handful" for his parents for some time. After reading this article and reading many things online, to say that he could be the next Tate Forcier may not be to big of a jump.

One small section of the article:

Pulling into the driveway, John Paul parked behind a hot red, shiny Camaro, the product of another deal with his son: if Manziel were a “model citizen,” he could have the car, which was bought a week before Texas A&M upset Alabama, then No. 1.

“We have to keep him focused; Johnny needs incentives,” Michelle Manziel said as she put away food in the house. They found, John Paul added, “Johnny needs structure all the time, because down time for Johnny is the worst time.”

Maybe Johnny has finally seen the light and has changed, but if that were the case, why would you have to bribe him with "incentives" to be a model citizen.

Two very different people to choose from for the Heisman, that's all I got to say.

Keeping heisman contender johnny manziel on target and in-line

Bump.

I was wrong about JFF's ceiling, but I don't feel like I was wrong about his douchebaggery.

Mods, maybe we can combine threads with the Johnny Football thread?

Why? This thread is almost entirely a comparison to Forcier and some sort of Manziel/Te'o argument. It hasn't been touched in 2.5 years. There is no mention of the NFL or rehab anywhere in this thread....which is pretty much all anyone is talking about in the Johnny Football thread.

Killz called it with his "cando" attitude, random persona, and clairvoyant slightly waved personality. If that is not enough, it should be preserved by merger just for the use of the word "douchebaggery!"

That is the way I see it.

This pass screamed progress, and John Paul leapt and pointed to the sky. He says he has seen change in his son. He bought him that Camaro, after all. He says Manziel is nicer to his sister, visits the family more often and calls him every day. And if not, John Paul will know. He bribes his son’s friends with steak dinners.

Assuming that at least some of Manziel's friends were football players........ did this article just divulge impermissible benefits?

Well, I think Forcier made it to rehab too.

Lol.

Boom! Relevance.

J/K, not even Forcier was turd enough to have to head to rehab to polish his maladies and "reputation."

I have to spread rep bumps around before I can hit ya. Lol.

I really don't mind if this thread died, but I have a feeling I'll have a reason to bump it within another 2.5 years. ;)
