There had been a meeting announced for 11 AM PST, and this must be why:

Just heard from a source that Jeff Tedford is out at Cal's coach. Players are being told now.

This makes me so happy for no reason at all. He has been praised for mediocrity since taking that job

Prior to Tedford, Cal was awful. Despite not being a fantastic coach and taking the program to NCG or BCS levels, he took Cal from the gutter to slightly above mediocrity.

I bet he'll land at Tennessee. They constantly on the lookout for mediocre coaches.

For some reason I feel a sense of relief for Cal fans. He'll end up somewhere like Kentucky.

All sorts of rumors flying around these parts about a replacement. So far I've heard John Gruden, Steve Mariucci, Hue Jackson, Greg Roman among others.

Hopefully whoever takes over the program can get their player graduation rate up.

Tenn wanted Tedford there for a while... listening to a couple of Ut beat writers on the radio today they are all in after Gruden, when that fails they will go with Bobby P.

Tid bit bout Tedford from ESPN

It is a measure of Jeff Tedford’s success through 11 seasons in Berkeley that Cal fired him with a record of 82-57 (.590). He may have been a victim of that success -- Tedford went 28-9 from 2004-06, when the USC dynasty kept Cal from its first Rose Bowl since the 1950s. Tedford helped push through the $321 million renovation of Memorial Stadium. But that expenditure demanded winning, and the Bears went 3-9 this year. His career may have suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome -- Cal got tired of him.
Perhaps "New" is what both parties need.
