I only heard of "Johnny Football" two days ago.
aTm is very high on there education and was another reason why most of Texas was scratching there head when they joined the SEC.
I have to put Johnny Football at the top here the passes he was making were incredibly accurate. That pass that he threw down the sidelines to swoop, fit it into eye of a needle, at a angle was awesome!!
Just on a side note did any of you see that the AP has Alabama at #4 come on???? Right now Georgia should be #4 hands down. The AP is going to continue to kiss Alabama's a@#.
Why not? He's undefeated. Its about wins. The only stat that really matters.
Was talking to someone about this tonight. Watched Nike's Quarterback a couple of times and the guy looks like Tom Brady, he doesn't miss a window, he's got touch, he doesn't miss a read, he runs the ball extremely well, they play lightning fast and I just don't see any first time starter mistakes. I would argue that EG is at least as talented as him and probably rated as high coming out of high school. What is the difference? Is Chip just better at coaching up a young quarterback? Is their offense simpler? I doubt all of that. I said this in a different thread about another team and I believe it is an issue- the 20 hour rule does not apply at some schools.

It has also been said that Everett has to put in a lot of effort to stay on par in the classroom, in fact, he had to sit the first series of the Miami game due to being late to practice because he lost track of time during a meeting with a professor. I know nothing about Mariota's scholastic prowess but I think it is fair to posit that ND is tougher school than Oregon, it is tougher to do well here than there, that more time on school means less on football, and less time on football means a slower learning curve. Expect a huge jump in Everett's understanding and running of the offense next year when he gets into his major and classes become less demanding and he can spend more of his own time in the film room.

I totally agree with what you said but, I think it is more than just school is harder, there are only so many reps, so much film you can watch when there is a 20 hour work week, some of these kids' performances like the quarterback at Nike U seem like they are spending a lot more time than the allowed time working on football.
Apparently you don't watch and keep up with much college football then.
Dude's been seen and talked about quite a bit throughout the season, especially the last couple of weeks.

Then Kellen Moore should have probably picked up a statue or two.
Difference though, Kellen Moore didn't play elite talent for 4 years, no statues for a player who played JV type competition . Yeah they scheduled the 3rd and 4th best teams in major conferences and beat them once in awhile, but no way Kellen's SOS compares. Don't get me wrong, Kellen was a helluva QB, but we'll never know.

I actually watch a lot of college football games. I don't watch sports center anymore. I watch gameday a bit each week if I'm not busy. A&M hasn't been on national TV much if at all where I live.

on every service but 247 who had him as a low 4
and around the ~200th recruit nationally. Coming from Texas... the mecca of overrated football prospects... did he not get the stars because Texas never offered? Overall poor offer sheet with 3 very intriguing offers outside of A&M:Golson will be a better QB than Manziel and Mariota in the future. Watch.
You think you might be a little biased?

The players can watch as much film on their own as they want, there is no rule against that. It is coached practice/film study/etc that is restricted. They can also get together in a players only situation and practice together without issue.
To tell you the truth I'm not that impressed with Mariota. It seems to me that he's essentially playing point guard chucking the ball to the open man every 3rd or 4th play against defenses that are sold out to stop the run. No one has put any pressure on him to this point. Until he makes plays under pressure (like Johnny Football did play after play against Bama) i dont think you can say much more for him than he's a game manager.
Well that's why I'm not sold on Oregon just yet. I want to see how they perform in a close game under pressure. I have a hunch they'd fold up.To tell you the truth I'm not that impressed with Mariota. Golson has the most upside because of his arm strength. It's really that simple. Manziel's arm is not that strong, but he looks quite accurate. Mariota is impressive, but a system babby. He could not pass the ball in a pro style.
