Having lived down in Alabama for 30 years the one thing I have learned is Alabama fans hate Notre Dame with a passion and I always let them know that we have beat there beloved Tide 6 of the 7 times we have played and have beat the twice for the National title

I've said it on IE in recent days... I believe we match up well with Bama. Would be a good, close game. This is by far the BCS matchup I want for our Irish. No better way to gain resounding credibility. I'm sure we don't scare them, but they shouldn't scare us either.

I want USC. They will be our toughest test of the season and we don't exactly match up well with them, it's at their home field, and they are probably our biggest rival who have owned us for pretty much the past 10 years.

I don't care who we play in our bowl game. I want to be 11-0 heading into USC and to beat the Trojans any way possible. Don't let USC record fool you into thinking that it would be an easy game for us.

Thank you.

After the LSU-Bama game yesterday, one of my friends said, "Well I know one thing for sure, we would get killed by Bama."

I proceeded to have a very frustrating argument with him which I discontinued after realizing that he doesn't know much about college football or perhaps football in general.

ND-Bama would be a great game. I don't know if anyone could convince me otherwise.

I just want to play for a National Title. Its been a tough last decade watching this team. If they finally break through an get shut out, i'm not sure ill be able to ever get over it. If that means Bama great. If that means Louisville I don't care. Just don't make me live past January asking what if?

Please football gods dont make such a great fan base suffer through that.

Not to mention we shut them out in Birmingham in 1980.

They actually have a poster out in Alabama of Cornelius Bennet sacking Steve Buerline the call it THE HIT! but getting back to playing Alabama, I think we match up well with them if not better, they have a hard time defensing the pass, plus with a mobile quarterback we would give them fits. They have played only one decent team and thats LSU

Yet they still claim at least one of those as a national championship.

I want BC.

THIS. I know it's still early in the week and I know the media will bring this up plenty in the next 6 days, but are people forgetting what BC has done to us the last two times we were undefeated in November. I know I will never forget

We're a long way from NC talk. We've got to win 3 games- two of them against rivals, including a USC team with a phenomenal offense, and then we have to get lucky. If ND Oregon and Bama are all undefeated, we're the odd man out. K-State and us are a toss-up.

This. But if I could just put ND in the NCG and pick the opponent I would definitely pick Alabama. Win or lose I want to play who everyone thinks is the best.

I know its early and am not over looking the rest of our schedule! But if we win out computer or no computer, I just do not see the NCAA not having the huge payday which Bama and Notre Dame would bring. Both teams with huge followings and 2 teams that have won the most national championships

Agreed...maybe we should seek it out...

B12 doesn't have a championship right? If it comes down to ND and K state being on the outs...maybe Jack should try and set up a neutral site game with Kstate on the same weekend as the Conference championships, and kill the PAC and SEC conf. championship advantage. One of us would get a healthy SOS bump, and even a coaches' bump...enough to vault the winner into the NC...I think so...our gift to a busted *** BCS system...:) Only works if Oregon snakes K-state out of the no. 2 spot...

yes, because if we as fans look ahead our team will automatically lose
Huge blowout victory in Ireland to start the season. Purdue is next, but attention really starts to turn to the next week's game in Spartan Stadium against the #10 team in the country. The Irish struggle with Purdue and need a last-minute drive to win by a FG.

Huge blowout victory in Chicago to get to 5-0. The hype train is really starting to roll now. The game of the season -- in Norman against OU -- is two weeks away. Everyone is talking about it. Very few are concerned with 4-4 BYU, who just got rolled at home by Oregon State. "Their offense sucks, it will be a shutout," was the general consensus. The Irish play their worst half of the season (to date) and need a dominating second-half performance to squeak by, 17-14.

The Irish go into Norman and -- against all prognostications -- physically beat up the Sooners. "11-0 heading into the Coliseum! Will we get into the BCSNCG????" dominates the post-game discussion. Everyone assumes we will destroy Pitt, BC and Wake. Well, we all saw what happened Saturday.

I would love a chance to play Alabama. I really do believe for the time in a long time that we could play with them and beat them. Of course not if we played the way we did against Pitt. However having watched every minute of every ND (more than once) that was by far their worst collective effort all year. Bama also looked vulnerable against LSU. The tigers gained over 450 yards in total offense (going by memory, so please don't quote). And were it not for Les Miles stupid gambles they could have won that game without question. Now LSU is no bum, but who where doesn't think we could beat LSU as well?

I say if we can finish 11-1 or 12-0, bring on the Tide!

They actually have a poster out in Alabama of Cornelius Bennet sacking Steve Buerline the call it THE HIT! ...

It's named "The Sack" not The Hit.

One of many Daniel Moore paintings of Tide victories. The life size original was painted in oil and hangs in the Bear Bryant Museum in T'town. A limited edition of prints were made and sold out quickly. It's the only memorabilia of a ND Bama Game your likely to find in the state.

I have a friend that played basketball for UA. Usually he has a big picture of Bear over his fireplace but every time I'm over at his house Bear goes in the closet and Beuerlein getting dismembered takes the place of honor.

One day I asked when he going to get a picture of one of Bear's wins over ND like the Cotton Bowl or Sugar Bowl games, two of the greatest games ever played.

The silence was deafening.

"The Sack" has remained in the closet ever since.
