“I've struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God,” Mourdock said, according to a report in the Evansville Courier Press . “And even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

Indiana GOP Senate Candidate's Mind-blowing Comment: Pregnancy By Rape Is God’s Will | Alternet

I've never heard such filth come from a person. Let alone a political figure.

I'm at a loss of words.

Edit:
about my headline, It was suppose to be satrical. I know it's something that shouldn't be taken lightly, BUT, I was trying to make an idiotic claim, like Mourdock.
Mods can change if they please.

I realize it's a verb. I'm trying make it sound as if a politician would say it.

Rape babies is a also a compound noun meaning babies born of forced intercourse.

The double meaning was intended.

Your post is such BS. You really meant to use "rape" as a verb in your title in connection with babies and you are complaining about "filth" coming from Murdoch?

Are you mad at Murdoch for telling us that God intended rape? Do you really think he thinks that? If not, why not deal with what Murdoch was trying to say, rather than feign righteous indignation at his blunder.

He was apparently trying to say that he has come to the difficult and unpopular conclusion that a child who is conceived through rape is still an innocent human life, and that God meant for us to protect all innocent human life.

In fact, God prohibitted us from intentionally destroying it ("Thou shalt not murder"). That is an extremely uncomfortable and unsettling position that leads to conclusions like, "Nuking an entire city full of children and elderly people was wrong," and intentional abortion is always wrong. Disagree with him if you want, but the position of Mother Teresa, and every other Pope and Saint can hardly be categorized as "filth."

Here is what he said BTW. I agree that his answer was terribly given.

"I believe that life begins at conception. The only exception I have to have an abortion is in that case of the life of the mother. I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is a gift from god and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that god intended to happen,” said Mourdock.

Despite your attempt at shock value, grammatically speaking isn't "rape babies" a verb followed by an object if used as a sentence and an adjective and noun if used as a non-sentence title such as, blue babies?

Yeah... the OP is one of the worst examples selective quoting I may have ever seen... almost as bad as the "you didn't build that" hack job Republicans did on that one Obama clip.

Frankly, you can disagree with him all you want, but there is nothing logically incorrect with his statement "life begins at conception, I don't believe in ending an innocent persons life, therefor you shouldn't have an abortion"... I mean I personally disagree with it on some levels, but it's not even close to "crazy" or "mind blowing".

That wasn't a hack job....

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”

It's pretty clear what he said.

If that were the case wouldn’t he have said you didn’t build THOSE instead of you didn’t build that? Let’s not forget that this is the smartest president we have ever had in our history (supposedly).

Again, it is clear what he said

Apparently free will isn't a thing? I thought God gave us a free will. If there is free will from God then why would rape and getting pregnant from it be a blessing? Mourdock is f*cked in the head.

It's insane.

I get that he believes that ALL life begins at conception...but you don't have to put it that way.

Abortion isn't a big concern of mine politically, but it literally scares me when you have people like Akin and Mourdock making comments like this. The anti-women stance being taken by politicians is so backwards.

Exactly! Its pretty clear that the President was just trying to set-up a strawman to attack: i.e., Republicans don't think that businesses rely on infastructure and claim that their success in no way depends upon their education. Aren't they so dumb! However, I do think if you read the full quote, he might have shown a little more disdain for the successful than was strictly necessary to mock Republicans (i.e., that Republicans don't think they need roads). He got a little carried away...

If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

In fact, they did build that. Tax payer dollars did. Private construction companies do.

So yeah, small businesses did "build that" and still do.

I can see your point.....But you can also attribute the decline in society due to the "live free" attitude that people now have. There is no moral code anymore. It's do what you want, and then put the blame on someone else later.

You have to have a good medium. I fall somewhere in the middle.

Saturday Night Live had it right a couple weeks ago. If men could get pregnant there would be abortion clinics like Starbucks and the morning after pill would come in various flavors.

PS: The internet was never designed so companies could make money off it. Its just what it has become.

It's pretty clear what he said.

Yes, it was painfully obvious watching the whole clip that he was referring to the societal support structures not the business. But as you've shown, it's incredibly easy to parse text and bold something to make it read the way you want.

When I first heard the blurb I was like "WHAT!?!?! F*CK OBAMA THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!!" and then I watched the unedited clip and was like "yeah... wow... that was some really effective editing."

It's no different than the TV spot running right now where the Dems have edited a 60 Minutes interview to make Romney look like a greedy devil who pays zero taxes... rather than you know, actually explaining why capital gains tax is lower and helps the economy and how raising it would push people into investing their capital in other markets.

It's all just shock tactics and every side does it.

When the GOP does a post-mortem on why the Democrats retained the senate, they have no one to blame but themselves. Akin and Mourdock this time, O'Donnell last time. You have to run candidates that have something to offer and don't shoot themselves in the foot any time they appear in public.
