I would wish for a new sound system. I used to be for the jumbo Tron but after the colts game i can't say I'm a big fan of them. The only way i would go for one is no live feed but that will never happen. I wouldn't be opposed to boxes either but if you did that notch out for td Jesus back to the stadiums original height.

True, but I like the idea someone said above. Have the boxes go around 1/2 or 3/4 of the stadium and leave the view of TD Jesus intact. You could build off the press boxes that already exist.

I think the problem with TD Jesus comes in with the 'trons, right? Michigan's are a "tacked on" structure that don't mesh with the stadium. I drive by the every day, it doesn't look "a part of" the stadium. The design above accomplishes that, but would probably block out TD Jesus on one end I think.

I'd like a glass dome so you can see TDJ and you can be warm in the winter time. Also, this glass dome would be retractable so when we play teams like Miami we can have it open to make them uncomfortable.

No? Too much?

Also, I was hoping for heads up displays with replays on them like they had in the Hunger Games. They would shine on the underside of the dome so that we wouldn't have to disgrace ND by having a jumbotron. I think this is a reasonable compromise.

really like all the suggestions above. I also think we need some field markings. I get it - the plain field is classic, traditional, etc.

But there was a blimp shot during the Purdue game, I think, and if you didn't know ND, you wouldn't have had any idea where the game was being played.

So, I propose a midfield logo. This year, it could be the 125 year logo. In other years a shamrock (like on the basketball court) or perhaps the monogram.

The problem is right now you cant see TD Jesus from the field like you used to. That is what I want to get back too. If you wrapped the stadium in boxes and left out TD Jesus that would be great. Then in two opposite corners put in a jumbotron (like the colts stadium) instead of the boxes. Keep it flush with the boxes and wrap the outside of the stadium just like were the boxes are and you would be golden. Two Trons and you could see from anywhere and they wouldn't block TD Jesus.

This is a crappy pic of what I was thinking. Fill the two areas with the blue line in with boxes, put the Jumbotrons where the red lines are and make the outside of both match the existing. This way the Jumbotrons fit in and don't look like bolt ons. The yellow arrow points to where should be lowered to see TD Jesus.

I like it too. Only issue (obviously not only, but one big one) is proportionality. It might be weird to have the trons on certain corners then have the boxes on the other corners.

If the boxes stretched farther it might ease that. But damn, I do like that.

THIS right here would be perfect IMO. Would love to see this happen...Stadium still looks classy, TD Jesus still visible, keeps the crowd noise in, jumbotrons where everyone in the stadium can see them.

Make it happen ND!

Love this, AND just think of the little TDJ viewing terrace that would be created right above the North or "Rockne" gate. Look one way and you are gazing into the beautiful Notre Dame Stadium, look the other and you are greeted by Touchdown Jesus (and probably the golden dome and basilica as well from that height). WOW.

I dont think it would be a big issue. It would be a classy way to have two relatively large screens without being tasteless. I also am not saying take up the whole corner of the stadium but make it tall enough that you could run a nice square/maybe widescreen video section and still put the game score on the side. What would be killer is if you put the "scoreboard info" on one side and had stats and current games scores running on the other.

Completely down with this idea. Also, the trons in the corners would still have the field lights-everything self-contained in the facade. The new boxes in the opposite corners could have the horizontal game stats/score-so the entire field would easily see the boards/stats.

Another idea-not original I know, is to have a Fighting Leprechaun logo at midfield with Shamrocks in the field corners off the playing surface facing the crowds-it's dead space anyway. May be too busy....

i wish they would sell beer at college games. but, i understand why.

Bring back tailgating for the commoners outside the stadium. The soccer fields used to have some of the rowdiest tailgates around.

Seriously, I wish they sold beer too. I can see both sides of it, but I really don't see how it would be any different than a normal stadium. They'd still card right? And I know from my undergrad days that everyone sneaks booze in anyways, so it's not like there'd be a marked increase in rowdy behavior. But I guess it would be contrary to the values of college, etc. Still wish they would.

And I also agree about the tailgating. I've tailgated in the lot with season ticket holders, and in the far lots with regular fans. Both are obviously great, but bring it together a bit, or something.

Having said that, changes in the stadium are much more important obviously. A jumbotron is a great idea, and I like the models that so far have attempted to appease the NDNation maniacs with a compromise that adds the video board in a tasteful manner. I personally just do not see one legitimate reason to not add one.

i dont either. its not money. i think the integration of music has been fine. nice ratio of band to audio files.

what is one good reason to not have a 'tron? and "tradition" in any form does not count as an answer. i say this because traditions can come and go or be altered while still maintaining the idea behind the tradition. traditions are evolutionary. adaptations can be made.

What I like about this rendering, is that it bring back the look of the old stadium. Really integrate the suites and videoboards.

Would be more tastefully done that Michigan's imo. I like how they did their stadium, but we can do ours even better.

i would think if you were going to do something like this a couple of things would have to happen:

1. how many seats are you losing or displacing by cutting out, in essence, section 101 and possibly 102 or at least a combination of the two?

2. how many are being added into the boxes?

3. i'd think youd want to rip out the gold seats to make room for more bench seating. as the people that have those seats would probably move to a box anyway, no?
thus, you keep your numbers of us "commoners" large enough and affordable enough.
