That would really be something! This schedule has been brutal even with the teams being not as advertised. They were all still very solid and Notre Dame took care of business! Navy is down sure, but it's still better than playing a Louisiana Technical Institute for the Blind as some of these other big name programs have done. It's amazing how a computer program can bring a little perspective into the discussion.:)

Brace yourselves guys,

If we are ranked #1 after this weekend, the hype has only just begun.

Belief in ones ownership to stake a claim is half the battle.

Our kids believe.

If they keep winning, they are proving it to themselves.

I like it. The Irish are physical up front on both sides of the ball. Offensive skill players are as good as anybody in the country as is the defensive front seven. Defensive backfield is young and talented. They are gaining valuable experience. Though it is a weakness they will improve as the season progresses. The speed and power are clearly evident as this team gains momentum and confidence. I love watching them. I think they are really good. The schedule could hurt their chances at a perfect season but if they run the table I hardly think that anyone in the country can deny that they deserve a shot.

This isn't #2 in the BCS rankings. It's #2 in the computer rankings. The human polls will keep us around 5 or 6 but we will probably leapfrog West Virginia & Kansas State with a win.

I have been thinking similar thoughts for a few weeks now. For me, it usually comes in the form of, "If ND is undefeated going into the Oklahoma game, the hype is going to be unreal." and usually followed by, ".....If ND is undefeated going into the SC game, sheesh, cant even imagine."

i know i need to pump my brakes on both of those thoughts, but for few weeks I have detected 'something in the air' with regards to ND.

.......only team not to trail for a single second in a game yet?
.......no TDs for 3 straight weeks against quality programs?
.......some ND players are the fastest guys on the field now??

There is definitely something exciting 'in the air' around ND these days, something I havent 'detected' in quite awhile.

Jerry Palm from CBS Sports was on local radio up here today and predicts ND playing Kansas St. in the Fiesta. He also predicts WV playing Bama for it all and Florida St. playing Boise St. in the Sugar. I'm not seeing that one, especially with Boise State's sole remaining "power game" being against Nevada, but whatever. I think I did date Jerry Palm's sister, Rosie, though.

So FSU is not going to win the ACC?

Computers hate Oregon so far. I think a couple had them in the high teens.

I don't think we'll even be in the top 3 if we win and the top 3 all win. Especially with USCe playing (an overranked but still highly ranked nonetheless) LSU team. However I do think we can land ourselves in the top 5. Which is a good position because we still have quality opponents left on the schedule, and the SEC teams at the top will all have to play each other. Florida and USCe play each other in two weeks and then the winner of that will likely play Alabama.

Regarding the distractions, I do worry about that a bit. However Brian Kelly doesn't seem like the kind of coach who lets his teams buy into the hype. Us as fans can look ahead all we want because we don't strap up and play between the white lines so I'm not concerned about that. I do try to temper my expectations because well my teams have a history of letting me down haha.

I was reading about the potential ranking on ESPN and the problem for Notre Dame is that for most of the teams above us, their only possible losses would be to teams that would probably vault the Irish in the rankings. Sort of like Florida beating LSU. Keeping my fingers crossed, though.
