Of all the observations people have made about the statement, this is the MOSTscary. Do you realize 90% of Div 1 programs ARE WORSE.In June, Ohio State was recognized because its multiyear Academic Progress Rate scores were in the top 10 percent of Division I football teams. OSU also received the same honor in 2011.

Don't sell this kid short. Sadly, he has a point.

To be fair, if he's complaining about it, he's being made to go to class.
On the other hand, that's totally hilarious.
Fair?
Fair???
That has no place in a thread like this.
agree. The stupid thing is that he said it publicly. I would not doubt a number of BCS players feel this way.
What's so stupid about saying the truth publicly? I applaud the kid for his lack of political correctness that is so sickeningly prevalent.
Od course you are right. I applied for and was offered a residency and facility appointment at Ohio State many years ago so I am fully aware that it is a great school and does the state of Ohio proud. It's also the program that graduated one Craig Krenzel, who would have given most ND students a run for their money, in terms of academic excellence. Just as Krenzel is not the typical Buckeye football player, I don't think this kid is typical of Buckeye football players either.
I wonder what his major is.
And to think how many deserving students have to pay or can't afford to get that same education. And this dope gets a free ride?
I still don't have a big problem with what this kid "tweeted." I actually think it was a clever way to word it, and its sadly the truth that the NCAA is making millions off of this minor league sports enterprise while kids like this try to make the NFL. Urban Meyer, Jack Swarbrick and Coach Kelly are making millions riding these unsung scout teamers. Why should this kid have to go to college to play minor league football?
An education is a gift that not everybody wants or needs. This kid clearly doesn't want it and is not getting anything out of his basketweaving classes. He should be allowed to take technical classes that are involved in something he might be interested in. There is no use in a kid like this getting a liberal arts education.
And for all of you with the sob stories about the struggles so many go through to pay for college save it. That's your life, not his. You value formal education. Everybody is different. This kid has no use for college. He shouldn't have to take college classes to play minor league football. He has a solid point.

Serious question: Please tell me what about ND makes you a fan? Because it seems to me that you don't have the first clue what ND is all about, and what makes most people follow the team.
Serious answer: I admire the fact that ND attracts true student athletes for the most part. I also think that ND is different than most other NCAA football teams and that's why I like them.
I also have a soft spot in my heart for the kid that wants to play NFL football, works his tail off and sells millions of dollars worth of jerseys for his college, and then rips his knee apart playing minor league football and has nothing to show for his hard work. Sure, he could fall back on his education, but most NCAA football factories will kick him to the curb. Not to mention the fact the kid has no genuine interest in college academic life and his talents and place in the world lie outward.
Should plumbers have to take calculus and english lit to perfect their true calling? Should assembly line workers be forced to take 3 years of foreign language at university? No, absolutely not. If they like the stuff, it's their right to take the classes and more power to them. Maybe it will help them expand their business reach. Why should minor league football players be forced to go to college? The money has gotten crazy in college football. Everyone is getting rich except for the players that get concussed and never see a dime. It's time to set up some sort of insurance system that will protect these minor league football players. Not everyone values a college education so there needs to be some other reward for these players.
