anyone else hear him bitch and moan about the hurry up offenses yesterday???

"I just think there's got to be some sense of fairness in terms of asking, 'Is this what we want football to be?'

At some point in time, we should look at how fast we allow the game to go in terms of player safety. The team gets in the same formation group, you can't substitute defensive players, you go on a 14-, 16-, 18-play drive and they're snapping the ball as fast as you can go and you look out there and all your players are walking around and can't even get lined up.

That's when guys have a much greater chance of getting hurt when they're not ready to play."

"[The no-huddle]'s obviously created a tremendous advantage for the offense when teams are scoring 70 points and we're averaging 49.5 points a game,"

Don't worry Nick, you can always give them a Medical Hardship scholarship (that you're known to use) and just keep oversigning to fill their position.

He's just looking out for the best interests of Nick Saban, not his players. He doesn't care if his players are at risk, it's the risk on the scoreboard he's concerned about. The uptempo pace of play has given teams more of a chance when they are at a physical disadvantage.

This reminds me of the time he said he "Missed" how the Big 10 operated when it came to the recruitment. Specifically, the gentlemen's agreement on already verballed players and to leave them alone.

Yea, I'm sure you do Nick. You mention the one portion of Big 10 recruiting that, if instituted in the SEC, would benefit you, but leave out the little idea of the Big 10 only being able to oversign 3 players per year, and even then you have to explain it to the Big 10 office. I'm guessing you don't miss that and the old days with your 25-30 player classes.

This is the same motherfvcker who stepped over his player having a seizure because he was a distraction. Then he left practice.

Sounds like someone is scared of playing Oregon.

Brings up a point worth considering on our offense, we have so many substitutions that the defense has time to substitute as well.

This kind of irritated me, I cant believe Nick Saban would say something like that and it didnt even make sense. If your players arent ready, YOU arent doing your job coach, just because you dont play that way doesnt mean it is bad for the game.

I lost a LOT of respect for Nick Saban off this comment. The guy thinks he can say whatever he wants because he has a couple rings. I am glad the ESPN guys took a stance and told him straight up that he was wrong.

He didnt invent football, he has no say in what should be legal or illegal in terms of offensive styles. Maybe Alabama should get pummeled for oversigning every-year... like, well you know, they should because it is against the rules.

Fvck Alabama! Fvck Nick Saban!

Haha! In Saban's mind, offensive players aren't people. I bet the QB doesn't think his health is better served by letting Nick get three fresh 300 lb DLinemen in the game. I bet a WR coming over the middle isn't anxious to let the safety get set.

He does not want to play Oregon, that is a fact. Oregon almost beat the Auburn team that beat Alabama. On the other hand, Alabama matches up perfectly against run-first, pro-style teams like LSU.

I am going to bump this thread if Bama plays Oregon. Oregon is a running football team and Saban will have over a month to prepare, Bama will beat them easy. If Bama's players need breaks all they have to do is fake cramps.

Haha what NFL team last year had three players all drop at the same time?

Found It, I guess it was just two, but still

No way Saban is scared of anyone. He has a professional team at his disposal. Alabama will brutalize Oregon in a bowl game.

Look at what happened in the Michigan game. Michigan got jacked up from play 1. Denard looked like he dropped the soap in the shower.

Alabama can go man to man outside and still stack the box. They have safties and DBs that can play LB and LBs that can cover like safeties. Allgator is pretty much right. I always hear about Oregon's speed and I have seen their games this year. SEC defense is just as quick and athletic.

Mind games.

Makes sense to me -- Alabama's huge advantage is in its defensive depth.

No huddle = no substitution = advantage neutralized.

I have yet seen anyone in the last three years successfully pull off a no-huddle offense against Alabama or LSU. If they did, kudos, just dont think it will happen. You can't stop all substitutions. Their advantage is their versatility as stated in my post above.

Recent history indicates that Oregon's hyperspeed offense is much easier to stop when teams have time to prepare for it. I agree that Saban shouldn't be afraid of the Ducks.

That said, why complain about this stuff? Saban coaches the undisputed best team in CFB, and yet he comes off as a whiny b!tch.

Michigan's offense is far and away the best they've faced so far this year. Tennessee will be the only other decent offense they face this season...unless/until they face Georgia in the SEC championship game. Alabama's defense is good, no doubt, but they also have the benefit of playing against a bunch of sh!t offenses.

Whiskey has a point. Oregon playing Alabama next week-- I like Oregon's chances a lot. Oregon playing Alabama with 5,6 weeks of prep time-- the odds start favoring Saban and Alabama more and more.

I agree it is wierd for him to complain about it. I am not defending Saban ( i have no love for ALabama), but there is a ring of truth to it. If you aren't ready to engage and someone chop blocks you, there goes your knee. .... there is a safety issue there. that being said I don't think he is being genuous.

I agree wholeheartedly with all you've said. Just to add, the thing about Georgia's offense is that Alabama matches up perfectly to defend it. It think Georgia will up the tempo if they play each other.

:boohoo: get in shape....that's like saying it's not fair to have a big fast rb who bulldozes people over because it could cause a concusion trying to tackle him when he puts his head down

If someone outweighs me by 100 pounds, I'd much rather race a mile than arm wrestle. I can understand why the other guy would want to outlaw the race and force the arm wrestling.

In the last two SEC v. Oregon games, Cam Newton and co. beat Oregon on a last second FG in the NC, and LSU beat Oregon by 13 after oregon fumbled on consecutive possessions in the 3rd Q in their first game of the year. It was not a blow-out. Oregon still scored 27 on LSU and Oregon's defense has improved.

Not really. Bracing for the impact is much different than not knowing it is coming. that has nothing to do with being in shape. Lulz with the boohoo.... These still are kids/young men with possible futures ahead of them.

Its all about controlling the line of scrimmage. There is a reason Oregon had trouble against Auburn and LSU because they had good front 7's. I would be very confident in Florida vs Oregon with a month to prepare.

they know a play is coming but they are standing around huffing and puffing trying to catch their breath...if you can't beat them in brute force...use speed and quickness...it's a common tactic in life

I see your point. I see Saban's point. I still don't think Oregon can beat Alabma and I think Saban is being disengenuous.

When you win as much as Bama and Saban do, you can pretty much say whatever you want. No way is that dude afraid of Oregon.

Oregon would beat Florida by double digits. Were you sober when you typed that?

Yes I am sober and I would like our chances with a month on prep nothing special about that team. Its amazing how Oregon doesn't look so great when they play people with real defensive front 7's and corners who can cover 1 vs 1.
