If this Ray Rice video is authentic, I'm seriously considering boycotting the NFL if they don't do something further. I try not to be to dramatic, but he's a piece of sht. I feel like watching the NFL is supporting them and letting all women down. What do you think?

I boycotted the NFL a long time ago, stupid product. This just adds to the hatred for the NFL and all it stands for.

I'm more concerned about the failure of the criminal justice system than I am about the NFL.

That too. I've decided I'm gonna let my wife decide. I'm going to show her the video, tell her about his punishment and get her opinion about whether I watch.

Good chance I won't be watching, she hasn't since the Michael Vick thing.

I have really boycotted the NFL for a while now... but this is pretty crazy... Have they stated anything about adjusting the punishment according to new evidence??

I've heard but not confirmed that they can't do anything further because of double jeopardy, unless they can prove that Ray Rice or his fiancee lied to the commissioner.

Where are you lawyer's when we need ya?

Double jeopardy would relate to the criminal investigation. It has nothing to do with what the NFL does or doesn't do, unless there's something specific in the league's code of conduct to that effect.

Note: I voted "no" in the poll, not because of any insurmountable love I have for the NFL, but because I'm still on the fence about how I feel regarding the league's personal conduct policy in the first place. I don't love employers punishing employees for things they do "off the clock," no matter how heinous those things are. That said, I know the players sign up for this and must abide by the terms of their contracts. I'm conflicted.

The NFL messed up big time by there low ball suspension. I know a lot of die hard raven fans that wanted rice dropped before this video so know i can just imagine that. I Have said from day one this should have been a bigger issue. I don't know if i will boycott the league but could do the ravens. But at the Same time i said if they make the skins change their name i wouldn't watch another NFL game ever.

I do not agree with what Ray Rice has done. I however do not think I would boycott the whole league because of the action of one person, whether it is Roger Godell messing up punishments left and right or Ray Rice hitting a woman. The league does do good things for many people including children and they have a lot of good people in the league!

My friend and I got into a discussion yesterday between watching College Football versus the NFL. He's not a fan of college football and only sites games between Alabama vs FCS teams, etc; I told him though I still like the NFL, If I had a choice between watching am NFL game or WMU vs. Toledo I would watch the college game in a heart beat.

In regards to whether I would boycott or not, if this incident doesn't get resolved in a timely manner I would have no problem not watching the NFL.

I completely agree. There's always something exciting going on in college football. This past week has been absolutely pounded for crappy scheduling and even then we saw McNeese State almost upset Nebraska, USC hold on to beat Stanford in a controversial game, Notre Dame beat the tar out of Michigan, and Ohio State upset at home.

I understand the conflict. I've always wondered why Pro Athletes only get suspended or fined for things the average person would be fired for.

I just feel that fans are the life blood of professional sports and if we show up or turn it on TV, we are saying we approve of them and their actions.

No, because if you were going to do that then you already should have. The video did not show anything that wasn't already known. I don't understand the fresh outrage. The video shows what they said happened.

I'd be ok with whatever punishment was decided by a panel of women. I do believe almost everyone should have a chance at redemption.

Easy answer here is because of $$$$.

I'm here I guess, I see calls for life time bans here and there... I think that's a bit emotional for a first offense... but clearly two games is beyond ridiculous.

Mods, is there a way to combine this poll and thread to the NFL punishment thread? I didn't mean to pull so much of the conversation away from Reslifes thread.
