Heard today from a friend who has been about 95% accurate on various inside info that he has given me through the years (recruiting, depth chart, practice, coaching, etc) that Goodman was running the Wildcat in practice this week. Who knows if Weis will break it out tomorrow or not, but that's just what I've heard so I figured I'd pass it along.

Aldridge in the wildcat with Golden coming from right and Allen (who was lined up on left) meeting behind James, and Aldridge chooses left or right, or reverse, or up the middle....

sick of the wildcat

I'm not a big fan of the wildcat, but I am a big fan of winning. If the wildcat helps ND win(and it has a couple of times this year), then I have no problem with it.

However.........

Aldridge in the wildcat with Golden coming from right and Allen (who was lined up on left) meeting behind James, and Aldridge chooses left or right, or reverse, or up the middle....

The LAST thing I want to see, out of the Wildcat, is forcing a running back to make reads that a QB should, and decide where the ball is supposed to go.

Sure & I agree but it feels too much like a gimmick to me & less like fundamental football. I hate it almost as much as Charlie's irrational going for it on 4th downs. It falls under that same category of grasping at straws when you're not good enough to win outright & have to resort to trick plays, gimmicks & desperation 4th & 1's.

If its a gimmick then why do so many college and NFL teams run it? If it was a gimmick the Dolphins wouldnt have called it on the goal line against the Jets with under 10 seconds left and down 4. Why not run it even if its going to give the D something else to focus on in practice? We wouldn't have won the MSU or Purdue games without the Wildcat formation in my opinion.

Given the kicking game, the last few years, I don't understand why everyone is so upset about Weis' gambles on 4th down? I mean, better to take a shot at a first down, than to miss what, for most other teams, amounts to a gimme field goal. This year, he has a kicker he has faith in, and he is kicking the field goals. I just don't see how people are holding the 4th down gambles against him?

I couldnt disagree more. The wildcat is becoming a major part of many team's playbook, both in college and the NFL. It is here to stay, so get used to it.

I have a super hard time buying into the wildcat. I guess we just need some repetitions. I need to see some magic with it. I know we moved the ball with it in a few games. But crappy little "swinging gate" and option pays when you're not really a team that practices those or has offensive strengths (hardcore run game) elements means screwing up on a few can really kill your drive. A defense just has to follow assignments. Discipline. Of course conversely I guess an offense just has to key option-wise through the wildcat.

I feel strongly both ways I suppose...

WTF:eek:hwhateve...?

PS you idiots. Thanks for alerting USC of practice reps. Do you think they have IT geeks that troll for hardcore ND fans to post sensitive information?

Why don't you guys just post a copy of Clausen's wrist play keys you got from your uncle's ex-girlfriends kids teacher, an assistant film guy.

Good grief Charlie Brown!

I bet the Poodle will revise his entire defense, maybe even fire a few people, since a forum said that Goodman is getting wildcat reps.

Nah, he'll just know ahead of time not to panic if he sees something new. Like Goodman taking a widlcat snap...

I tried to find a USC board. They have a paid subscription one. But nowhere could I find one with detailed and knowledgeable information like we have here.

That being said, people should honestly control semi-sensitive information. Obviously, this is far from top secret shit.

Also, you're sarcasm is so subtle I could barely detect. Take a look at some of the bad forms of communication. I enjoy much more direct forms, like telling me "F%$! you johnnykillz" to my face. Otherwise only the incredibly autistic folks will completely enjoy the shit talking...

Seriously, the whole idea of us blowing a gameplan on a message board is ridiculous.

Pete Carroll definitely goes around looking for opposing gameplans on a message board, on Friday night, before a huge game on the road. Especially ones from a guy who claims he knows somebody who knows the information and is only "95%" accurate on his information.

"Hey, Matt! Look! A rumor about Notre Dame's gameplan from a person who knows a person! Let's change our strategy!"

If NDOM is the Poodle...who's the creeper in his avatar?

Matt Leinart's ex-boyfriend he attended with at the ND-USC game with back in 2000. Petey and he had this thing going. He's the technological genius... AKA the "mole."
