Why do you hate...?

I hate OSU and their ridiculous fans.. Really it's the fans who drive the OSU hate. They play anywhere from 1-3 challenging conference opponents and have an easy rise to the top, which the fans then start to become unbearable.. I also lived in Ohio during school, so I'm prejudice .. But they are not on the level of UM and USC

I would agree with this. I had no direct problem with OSU, until I started meeting some of their fans. They're quick to call ND a whole slew of names, but the OSU fans that I've met are some of the most arrogant, obsessive, delusional fans I've ever met. I love Notre Dame football, but not at the expense of disconnecting myself from rational thought, and certainly not as a form of cult worship. I've never encountered so many people who would jump off a cliff to support either Tressel or Orville Redenbacher (aka Gordon Gee).

Michigan is just an ugly place (not the state, just the University). Ugly uniforms. Ugly history. And I absolutely loathe Desmond Howard. Just despise the guy.

USC is the only rivalry I actually respect, and in my eyes, it comes down to LA vs South Bend / Hollywood vs. Religion / Goliath vs. David.

If you have to ask why we hate, maybe the more important question is why you don't. That deserves a revocation of your fan card.

To be fair, the OP is an avowed Alabama fan, and occasional visitor in these parts. USC and Michigan aren't his fights.

Very true. I was just genuinely curious and didn't know why there was so much animosity towards those three programs. It's been a very interesting discussion so far and I've learned a lot. I asked my wife, who is a USC alum, about the ND/USC rivalry and she just said, "Huh? I didn't even know ND and USC played each other" (she wasn't a football fan and didn't know a field goal from a first down until we married... and yes, my family is appalled that I actually married such an obviously uncultured savage).
