Who Would Travel Better?

I have been having this debate with a ton of people. They seem to think 'bama or Georgia will travel better to Miami than ND. Some people have told me either will dominate us in Miami as far as fans go. I seriously think different, even if it is 'bama.

We will travel better than either. But I heard UGA vs us would actually make more money. It does not make sense to me but thats why they get paid to make this analysis.

Bama will travel better but you expect it to be pretty equal.....

Hmmmm.....What???

LOLOLOL.

I mean I don't know if Florida has the biggest pocket of ND fans. But come on, it has been 20 years, and we have excitement for the future as well. I would hope to think that we could make it loud for either 'bama or Georgia when they are on D...

I don't think either will "dominate" us - especially since we've got a week's head start on hotels and such. Might be a different story if we were playing 'Bama in New Orleans, but Miami's not exactly right next door (11 hour drive from Atlanta, 13 from Birmingham).

As for who'd travel better, I'd guess Georgia fans. It's been a long time since they've been to a title game. Also it's a bigger state/bigger school than 'Bama, so there's more of them, and probably a little more money. This title game stuff ain't cheap.

I've had this same debate with a rabid SEC homer who thought the spread would be 70/30 Alabama/ND fans and 60/40 UGA/ND. I told him he was crazy and he replied that ND fans are like "Lakers/Yankees/Patriots fans" and then compared us to Hurricane fans.

I honestly don't know where all these people get this idea that UGA has this large fanbase that will travel well. Georgia's fanbase is concentrated primarily in north Georgia. They don't have the large regional fanbase of Alabama or the national fanbase of Notre Dame.

I do think there will be tons of SEC folks there.....someone has to staff the concession stands.

Is that too mean?
I'm sorry. I take it back.

Nobody out travels the Irish.

You can make a case for Ohio State. We'll out travel Bama because this is nothing "special" for their fans... I'd think we'd be about even with Georgia.

In fairness and respect nobody travels like Nebraska.... not even close, every school they have played probably has an airel view of their own stadium being taken over 75% NU fans during a home game against the Huskers... I know for a fact most Big 12 teams hang a picture of that around their press rooms... I'm sure Big 10 teams do too now... NU just about took over ND Stadium when Crouch and company came in as well.

Major respect for that fan base.

It's funny you said that. Last time we played down in Knoxville, UGA was in Lexington that weekend. My dad, brother and I were traveling back north to Cleveland and 1 out of every 5 cars/pickups/mobile homes/U-haul was loaded with UGA swag... It became a game that every time we saw UGA flags, my brother or I would say, "Go Dawwwwgs".....We'd laugh our arse off and it made the trip that much shorter. Those people know how to travel to be sure, but ND Nation being country wide and with the excitement surrounding the season would cook Miami... I'd venture a guess and say ND 70-30 in the stadium...

I was going to list Nebraska but was unsure if that was outdated... haven't seen a game in god knows how long where Nebraska was on the road for a big game. But historically no one travels like cornhusker fans.

Huskers know how to travel. My Northwestern buddies told me they literally took over the stadium this year. And I've heard at ND in 2000 they went wild.

I don't know how UGA would outtravel 'bama, but who knows. It's definitely been a while for the Dawgs.

I worked on the crew that re-did Mizzou's press boxes in 2000... they have so many pictures of NU taking over different stadiums it's unreal...

think any random Big 12 team at home with literally 80 percent of the fans in NU white and red.

It can be argued UGA fans have more money than Bama fans (better school), and it is a bigger school which equates to more Alum. Plus they haven't been there in so long like us so they are bound to make a bigger deal of it than Alabama.

One thing about UGA fans is they load all of their cars with flags, stickers, etc. After Mark Richt did some Ford commercials in which he drove a red truck I swear the state became flooded with red F-150s.

I would like to see what it would look like for an away game if we only had 1 major color scheme. I'ts always hard to tell how many fans we have at a game just by a camera shot. Hell look at our home games. Gold Blue Yellow Green white. We look like a frog in a blender

You'll outspend them also. That tiny school in the middle of nowhere will blow them out of the stadium in every conceivable manner - intellectually, knowledge of the game, and more important, the manner in which you conduct yourselves - sportsmanship.

Also, the Irish playing a bowl game will bring a larger viewing audience. Since we've dealt with those ridiculous SEC fools since 2003, I have some interesting articles archived.

...and this is before our bandwagon expanded this season by 75% (at least as far as tv rating are concerned).

ND seemed to travel pretty well heading across an ocean, so I'd imagine there might be a pretty good turnout in South Beach.

Hopefully the Irish fan's take out the queers in the red button up shirts and penny loafers.

We haven't been in the NCG since '88. People are chomping at the bit. No one will have more fans there than the Irish.
