Completely unfair, but it is a question of when, not if. Absolutely, he made MASSIVE blunders that almost everyone outside the program could see. But, the fact is that no one else could succeed at ND. Probably, Kelly is doing as good or better a job as anyone would do. It is easy to not make blunders at LSU or Alabama or USC with all the advantages they have, both licit and illicit. Saban, Meyer, etc would be even worse than Kelly at ND. I can't imagine the lack of foresight they'd have in the midst of the maelstrom of competitive disadvantages that is the ND football program. The fact is that no football coach could possibly overcome all the disadvantages we face. For those of you that haven't learned from the past 20 years, 8-5 is a good year for us. We will never have another 1 loss season, much less win a BCS title. Once or twice every 15 years or so we might sneak in to BCS with a 2 loss season if all the stars align...and get crushed by a real BCS team. I'd say get used to it, but anyone who hasn't after 20 years is NEVER going to. So, enjoy calling for HC firings every 3-4 years for the rest of your lives.
