hey guys first time posting but I have been following the forum since 2009. easily the best notre dame message board on the web. I saw this thread last week and thought this would be a nice "safe" thread for a first post. so here goes, in order
Notre Dame football & basketball- actually grew up in a split household (mother ND fan & father o$u fan) obviously chose the right side. On Saturdays in the fall the world stops for my family. cook outs and full spreads of food. Unless I am at the game. I havnt missed a home opener since 2007 and usually attend 2-3 games a year. win or lose always bleeding blue and gold. i actually proposed to my wife in the grotto 2 days before the 2012 home opener at the grotto and our "first" honeymoon was the 2013 home opener
Chicago Cubs- ugh ...thanks dad. again split house growing up mother a reds fan and dad a cubs fan. not sure I chose the right side with this history of losing but by far my favorite pro team. actually I love baseball but unless I am at a game I only watch the cubs baseball on tv.
Chicago bears- more influence from growing up. my dad never really cared for the nfl and my mom started rooting for the bears because Ditka and the power house 1985 team.
Indiana Pacers- grew up a pacer fan. being from near Columbus as far as local teams you either got the pacers or the cavs. somehow i chose the pacers. i always joke that while everyone else had the MJ posters up i had a reggie miller poster on my wall.
San Antonio Spurs- always supported the team due to Tim Duncan. He is probably my favorite professional player of all time. but over the last few years i have caught myself following the team more and more and really like how the spurs do business.
Columbus Blue Jackets/Edmonton Oilers- CBJ because that's our team and the oilers because of all those classic teams from the 80's. in the sega nhl game from the early 90's always used them and rooted for them because Columbus didn't have team.
Columbus Crew- its our team that's a pretty easy one lol.
honorable mentions- US mens national soccor team couldn't really put them on the list because if your from America of course you love this team. I am an American outlaw member as well
Virginia Tech- despite being from near Columbus, i was the only one in my family born in ohio. everyone else is from near blacksburg. that school is like a pipeline for my family. 4 family members played football there, 2 others golf, 1 basketball player and 2 family members on the board down there.
Indiana hoosiers & Cincinnati bearcats- only big Div. 1A schools to recruit me coming out of high school.
