Can someone inform me? I am 23 years old and don't know much about him at all, or why he is so upset. I heard he may be psychotic, but what is going on here? This is NOT ND.

I actually kind of feel sorry for him. Anyone with that much anguish and pain in their lives, I feel bad for them. I don't know what has led him to this stage in his life. Looking at some of his other videos, it looks as though drug use and some sort of health issue is root of at least some of his anger, but that is just a guess.

He has a lot of pain and anger he is working through. I feel bad for the guy and I hope he gets the help and care he desperately needs.

I don't. I'm not saying that you are wrong for feeling sorry for him, but I refuse to pity anyone that builds up that much anger because they blame others for their own inadequecies. He needs to take ownership of his own life and quit blaming others for his lack of success, and get a grip on his jealousy of others' success. He sounds pretty mentally weak to me, which is probably what cost him playing time at ND.

I agree with your points as well. I don't feel sorry for his inability to deal with shortcomings or adversity in life. I just feel sorry for anyone, regardless of the reason, that has to deal with that much anger and pain in his life. He has to wake up every single day and experience that feeling of hurt and anger and I wouldn't want anyone to feel that under any circumstances.

We can look at someone like that and say it's his own fault and call him names and things like that. My point was that I hope I never have to experience the pain and anguish that brought him to this stage in his life. You could put a thousand people in the same circumstances as Dan Quinn and they would choose to handle the situation in probably a thousand different ways. He has to live with that anger and sorrow every single day. I was only saying I feel very fortunate in my life and a guy like Dan Quinn needs prayers and kindness as much as anyone.

I don't know. It sounds super corny of me, but I am just coming off a really fabulous weekend where I feel incredibly blessed and I hope I never take the blessings I have for granted because the Dan Quinns of the world live the majority of their days in complete misery. Misery I doubt I will ever experience first hand. Self imposed or a result of his lack of personal responsibility or whatever - it doesn't matter. I feel bad for the guy and I do hope he gets the help he desperately needs.

Well not looking at his character, I kind of see the Holtz points shaving. I'm mean if he's telling it correctly Holtz totally had the wrong defensive play called if Dan was looking for a sweep. Other than that, the guy needs to get a grip. So what Lou, made personel mistake plenty of coaches do that.

You are absolutely right, It is always a guessing game. Regardless, of which side of the ball you are on. I have seen 1st an goal and 4 straight runs up the middle. Then, I have also seen it where a team will run 3 times up the middle before faking it up the middle and either sweeping to the outside or bootlegging it in. This player speaks of how the offense is set and the position of his feet, but of course know one would know that before the play when the defensive play is called. Also, I can't say for sure that ND would not have made the stop without him. Perhaps Lou was angry because the guy didn't stay at home.

It is pathetic that a guy almost 50 years old by now, has not yet outgrown the adolescence
of vulgarity when trying to make a point. His story would be much more believable if he didn't sound maniacal.

And one more thing, I am ashamed to admit that at almost 6-2, 235 lbs and almost 49 years old, I have long feared being attacked by Lou Holtz. Some people fear snakes, spiders, rabid dogs, or even clowns. My fear has always been being attacked by a 130 lb man 20 years my senior.

I don't blame you. Lou's badass. Lou Holtz > Chuck Norris, 8 times out of 10.

I don't exactly know what point you are trying to make, but I think your a little off base. I don't think this is indicative of the "type of player that got ND to championships in the 80's". Unless you consider guys like Zorich, Ismail, Rice, and Brown to be those "types" as well.

I'm not sure how far you want to take this, but I think you're way off base for where you intend on taking this.

One of two things can be deduced from the statement I made:

1) Gerry Faust had subpar recruiting standards for athletes at Notre Dame during his tenure. (Grades, intelligence, and henceforth attitude. Essentially Darwinism.)

2) Johnnykillz made a joke.

In regard to #1 - I don't feel like debating the aspects of the types of recruits in the early 80's versus the types of recruits today because the landscape of college football has changed so dramatically. With that being said, I still don't think Dan Quinn is representative of the types of players across the board even for Faust's teams.

In regard to #2 - I guess I didn't think it was funny and, therefore, didn't take it in a joking manner. My bad.

Go Irish,

No it was actually all my bad. I was drunk and semi-belligerant/agro. I will take full responsibility for a terrible post.

Of course Brady's uncle isn't representative for the whole 80's program and many great players came in and out of the program in the decade. I think we should refer to him as Brady's uncle rather than the jackass he is, that way we can certainly associate he had some potential worthwhile. I can't believe those two are in the same gene pool.

Now, "Brady's Uncle" IS funny! I like it. Unfortunately, it is a knock by association on Brady, one of my favorite players of all time, but it does not diminish it's comedic value.

No worries. I have written more than a few posts under the influence of Jesus Juice, so I am with ya there.
