"What if" the Bush Push hadn't occurred on ESPNU right now for anyone who cares.

I caught part of yesterday's "What If" segment. It was "what if" Georgia had lost to Fla. many years ago and some pass didn't go for 92 yds. for t.d. Seemed like a totally ridiculous concept of a show, as if the brainstormers at ESPN sat at a meeting desperately trying to come up with a new gimmick. Silly concept. (But I sure would have liked to have seen the Bush Push "What If." What did they say?) lol

ND implications: They basically said 2005 would've been a huge success (finish 10-2 at worst and maybe playing for a NC) instead of just being a "good" season. They think we probably get one or two more elite recruits in the 2006 class and then that coupled with the 2007 class of awesome means that we play much better over the past two years. They said maybe that's the difference between 6-6 this past year with some VERY close losses and 11-2 with an Orange Bowl victory over GT. Charlie never gets fired, Kelly stays at Cinci.

USC: Bush doesn't win the Heisman. Instead it goes to Vince Young. The whole USC era is viewed differently and Pete Carrol leaves to coach the Redskins in 2008 instead of leaving now.

I think the USC predictions are pretty practical... whether or not that win translate into future success for ND I don;t necessarily buy. But it is pretty reasonable to think that a 10-1 regular season heading into possibly the NC instead of 9-2 heading into a game against OSU that we eventually lost could've had some nice ripple effects down the line. But we'll never know.

I personally think Charlie was doomed as a college coach no matter how good he was playing with players who were already developed.

The "What If?" segments are moronic.

On the Georgia-Florida TD that let Georgia win the NC in 1980, they predicted that if that hadn't happened, Pittsburgh would have dominated the '80's and joined the Big 10 in 1991.

IrishLax (are you LA airport? LAX? But I digress...) I kinda think CW's style would have produced a 10-2 at his absolute best. Unless he was given a 10 year time table to produce.

But as someone mentioned before on this forum, coaches at ND that have won it all did it within 3 years. At least (in my uneducated mind) CW left his Alma Mater in good shape. Gotta love the guy.

I'm kinda like the new Michigan poster on here as far as predictions. I somewhat correctly predicted a 3-9 season (I predicted 2-10) in '07, a lucky 6-6 in '08, and a solid 6-6 last year.
I was thinking 9-3 this year if things remained the same.

I am completely clueless about this coming season. Too many variables. All I know is that it will be exciting.

After watching today's segment I totally agree. How can you prognosticate 5+ years down the road? They should have left it at "Bush doesn't win the Heisman, ND probably plays for the NC and Weis might still have a job." The end.

Well, no. I am a left coaster. LAX is the Los Angeles airport. But I lived in Alexandria for a bit.

I played lacrosse. Too fun. Smashed a mofo every now and then. Earned some serious penalty box. But it was worth it. Mofos popping me in the head away from the ball. They got what they deserved.

Smashed a mofo so hard after he gave me another cheap shot to the head that he flew about five yards backward onto his pooper after I delivered a perfect 10 yard sprinting start toward his gut as he awaited a 30 cross field pass. He never saw me coming.

Someone sstop meee. I'm salivating at the memory...

Glory days. I have no more testicles.

Word. I actually went to high school in Alexandria (if you're talking about Alexandria, VA).

Lacrosse is a fun sport. Didn't even start playing it until high school but it is one sport where being 5'8" 145 doesn't preclude you from playing at a very high level if you've got quicks. And I feel your pain... I'm in the retirement home now after tearing my rotator cuff & labrum in my right shoulder in a summer league game :(

We must have been neighbors. I worked right off of Duke St.

Rotator cuff surgery takes a long time to heal, and you really have to go through the therapy.

I wonder "What If?" What if I hadn't hit that guy who was half my size who kept checking me on the head with his stick, and I hadn't been put in the penalty box. Oh snap, we won. Never mind.

Too many what ifs

TI agreed ND would play Texas in the BCS game but...
1) they assume we would land 2 or 3 upgrades on d recruiting

2) they assume these 2 or 3 players would make our d significantly better

also if they did win Latina and Oliver would never of been fired so its stiupid
