i don't want to be one of the many posters who will start random threads with their pointless opinions. i don't want to be that guy. but i just need to explain what this was like for me.
i was having a great day. i got to sleep in this morning for the first time in 3 weeks, watched gameday, went to the OSU game (i rooted for toledo, btw. it wasn't well received by the OSU faithful.) i got back, and went to homecoming with my girlfriend. homecoming was great.
we were having a good time, and i made a valiant effort not to check my phone all night, so that i would be able to watch the game in its entirety after i got home from the after-party. but i forgot to turn off ND updates on my iphone, and i got one that said "ND 7 Mich 0". at first i was mad because i didn't want to know any scores, but then i remembered we were winning and i should be happy. so i was.
i turned off updates because i wanted the game to be a surprise. i avoided all my fellow notre dame fan friends throughout the dance so as not to risk the "hey, they lost!" i knew i would get. with about 15 min left in the dance my friend yelled "your're up by 17!" at first i was mad but i couldn't be unhappy after just learning we were probably on our way to brian kelly's signature win at Notre Dame, and an entirely new season.
so i was in a great mood. we went downtown to this new restaurant with two other couples after the dance, and as we were walking through a street filled with bars, i subconsciously looked at one of the TVs in the bar we were passing, but looked away just quick enough so as to not see a score. because i figured we were on our way to a victory, i allowed myself a sneak peak at the TV. i looked just in time to see UM's receiver jump into the stands after scoring the winning touchdown. these were my emotions, in order:
:jawdrop:
hwhateve

as i stared into the bar window, with a look of horror on my face, a police officer legitimately asked me if i was ok. my girlfriend asked if i wanted to go home. my OSU fan friend just laughed.
i still can't believe it.
0-2 with MSU looming next weekend.
un
freaking
believable.
