These were found on WeAreSCMedia.com. I thought simulating "running out of the tunnel" was a NCAA recruiting violation?

"Next time I run out of this tunnel it will be to whip some Trojan ass. And why in the hell do they keep playing that song? What is that on the ground? Horse poop? That's it. When I get home, I'm calling Charlie. Heck, why wait? Coach Carrol, can I borrow your phone?"

The USC coaches are gay. They try to act hyped the whole time.

Look at the face on the guy on the left in the 2nd photo. This isn't a NCAA Tunnel Enactment Violation. They're running from a daily driveby shooting on Figueroa. Welcome to L.A. boys!

I don't think so, I have read more than a couple of times where recruits have said they loved doing it. They came out in a jersey, etc. Had their name announced, etc.

No, this would be a violation, however, someone said that USC is off the hook here because this isn't a recruiting vist but rather a paid camp.

f. Prospect’s Visit
An institution may not publicize or arrange publicity of the visit of a prospect to the institution’s campus. Further, a prospect may not participate in team activities that would make the public or media aware of the prospect’s visit to the institution (e.g., running out of the tunnel with team, celebratory walks to or around the stadium/arena, on-field pregame celebrations). [13.10.4, 13.10.7]
So sounds like USC found the loophole here.

it seems like those rules you quoted apply more to activities surrounding a game. i assume "team" means the active roster and celebratory blah blah blah prevents them from making a spectacle of the recruit in front of a giant crowd which would put a lot of pressure on them. i'm not sure having a group of prospects doing this would be a violation regardless of the fact it's a paid camp. as long as it's not part of a recruits visit during the season, such as a gameday visit, it's not a violation. i could be misreading this.

this of course is only the way i read what you provided and i'm by no means well versed in ncaa rules regarding recruiting.

Hang on though...you point out that they can't do it WITH the team.

They certainly can do it on private visits. ND coaches do that. You let them run out of the tunnel...music blaring...name announced. But no one in stands...no press, etc.

Now it makes sense.

It may not be a recruiting violation, but making any kid run out of the tunnel in the Coliseum while the band plays Fight On is definately a crime against humanity.

But this was a camp with press (local SC media, Rivals, etc.) present.

Actually, they can't do it on official private businesses of any kind. Paid camp is the key here. While they exist for recruiting purposes in reality, they aren't officially called such.

HAHA, that is a pretty good one, something that I would say. Gotta give you some props for that.

If I was a USC player I'd be a little bit pissed off. I would feel that I earned the right to run out of that tunnel. These high schoolers didn't earn anything but they're running out like it's Saturday afternoon.

After all getting a passing grade in ballroom dance class and finding someone to do papers for you isn't easy.
