Exactly. Don't watch Durant's games. Or anybody else who opted out.

I understand your point, but this is his job. He treats the game and his image line anybody else treats their job. He has plenty going on outside of the NBA and Team USA too. Camps, appearances, nonstop training. This isn't just a game he plays 100 times a year. To downplay his exhaustion because he plays a game for his career is more insulting than his comment.

Cool. I wont watch his games then.

That doesn't mean that I cant point out my disappointment in him. Give me a break on the whole "he treats it like a job" BS. It's freaking basketball. He practices, works out, does media events and interviews and lives the life of a god. I don't want to hear about how hard he has it, he doesn't. He is a pro athlete, a job that 99% of dudes would trade in a red second. If you are arguing that his problems are just like anyone elses, then you are arguing on deaf ears. Because I vehemently disagree.

You're arguing that he's lazy because you refuse to believe that he could be exhausted. I think you're oversimplifying what he does, but it doesn't matter. I don't care to take this any further, if you do let's take it to PMs. This thread should be for Team USA, not a guy who decided to back out.

Still, you're a fellow Bulls fan, so you're alright in my book. Fuck the Cavs. Go Bulls.

Go USA.

More importantly, Fuck Michigan.

Who's the large portion of our nation that focuses on Kevin Durant?

KD is my favorite NBA player. That being said, all he does is play a game. And he's more than well compensated for it.

It doesn't bother me a ton that he's bowing out of the tournament. If he did it 3 months ago or 2 months ago, or maybe even right before practice started? Not a huge issue. But don't show up, practice for a couple weeks, then claim mental exhaustion. Total chump move.

If they withdraw and don't play in the world cup can they still get on the team for the Olympics in 16'? I thought coach K made the worlds manditory when he took over team usa? I could be wrong?

It's unlikely that they will refuse KD on the Olympic team. Other players? THat's not so sure

Hopefully we have a fully recovered Paul George for the Olympics in 16'. If he would even consider playing for team USA again after that injury?

It looks likely that PG can make a full recovery. If that's true, he'd get an invite. I'm unsure whether he would accept, but I'm optimistic.

Michael Jordan:
November 1, 1991 - April 19, 1992: NBA Regular Season (NBA MVP / Top Scorer / All-NBA First Team) *Age 28-29
April 23, 1992 - June 14th, 1992: NBA Playoffs: (NBA Champions / NBA Finals MVP / 35.8 PPG)
June 28, 1992 - July 5, 1992: Tournament of the Americas / Portland, OR (GOLD MEDAL)
July 26, 1992 - August 8, 1992: Summer Olympics / Barcelona, Spain (Gold Medal)
November 6, 1992 - April 25, 1993: NBA Regular Season (Led league in PPG and SPG / All-NBA First Team)
April 29, 1993 - June 20, 1993: NBA Playoffs (NBA Champions / NBA Finals MVP / 32.6 PPG) *Age 30

Shake my head at today's players.

BTW:
Charles Barkley had the same schedule (minus the '92 playoffs) moved from Philly to Phoenix and won the 1993 MVP.

He balled out on the original Dream Team, he statistically was the best player.

Mentally exhausted from his demanding career of playing freaking basketball? I wish my job entailed playing a game all day.

I'm disapointed in all of the stars, not just Durant, that backed out. Have some freaking pride in your country and the tradition of Team USA. If we lose, I blame them. Sucks for guys like Rose that are giving it a go for their country.

Bunch of candy-asses.

Why is it that other country's athletes do nothing but gloat about playing for their country? Ours, not so much. Maybe it has to do with the fact that they're away from home for their respective sport (except maybe soccer).

Dirk, Gasol, Nene - you think they're backing out (or at least want to play).
Do you see any Caribbeans not want to play for their country's baseball team?
I have no idea what the issue is.
