While I don't agree with the fact that his team deserves it, I do find it ridiculous that Michigan is still #2 in the BCS. It's a joke, plain and simple.

Who do you think should be #2? Now I'm as big of a ND fan as they come but put the shoe on the other foot. There only loss is to the #1 team in the nation on the road by 3 pts. We got blown out by Michigan at home, Arkansas got blown out by USC at home, Flordia lost to frickin Auburn which isn't even in the top 10 and USC lost to Oregon State which isn't in the top 25

I have no problem with what he said other than the whining about Florida deserving it over any other team.

Florida may only have one loss, but they haven't looked anything like the number 2 team in the country at all.

Everything else he said is fine and I agree with.

Do I believe that the SEC should be in it? Absolutely," Meyer said. "I would say that if it were up to the 117 Division I-A coaches, certainly it would not be a rematch.

The SEC?
Well the Razorbacks were already scratched.
The Razorbacks lost 50-14 at home to Southern Cal to open the season.

The 117 Division 1 A coaches?
63 of them already voted in the Coaches Poll and picked USC 2nd, ahead of UM and UF. The Harris Poll had the same order although there was a clear gap between #3 and UF.
The AP had UM #2 followed by USC and everybody's #4 UF.
Five computers had UM 2nd and the 6th had UM 3rd.
One computer had USC 2nd and the other 5 had USC 3rd.
Four computers had UF 4th, one 6th, and one 7th. No computer had UF in the Top 3 much less 2nd.

UF didn't make #2 in the Coaches Poll, Harris Poll, AP Poll, nor any of the 6 computers.

As Alabama's having a down year maybe the guy that's awarded them 24 Championships can declare The Gators #2.

The real problem is the influence ESPN and the AP Poll have over the country. I am a little biased because I cannot remember the last time outside of Lou Holtz comments on ESPN has any thing been said positive about ND. The other thing is I know Ohio St won - good for them, but ESPN was already calling for a repeat game if the Buckeyes lost. Why did the buckeyes get 4 game days this year? Why since Quinn made mistakes against Mich did they start carving Troy Smiths name into the Heisman Trophy - Well they know like many that some of the old Heisman winners do not even watch football any more and their vote can be influenced by hearing ESPN's Opinion over and over. It will look horrible when the Heisman Trophy winner goes in the 5- 6th round of the Draft.

ABC/ESPN should be investigated for tampering.

At least when he is a bust in the NFL, ESPN will hire him to sit next to our buddy Mark May.

LOL, would love to have Urban Myer, Bob Davie, and Ty Willingham doing the commentaries during ND football games. That would be classic.

Hey Svoboda, the real joke is a Nd team slipping into the NC game over a similar one loss team that beat them 47-21 early in the year.

It SHOULDN'T be Michigan. Turnovers is the only thing that kept them in the game. If Mich. wouldn't have won the torunover battle 3-0 they would have been smoked. tO$U turns it over 3 times and still outgains scUM by over 100 yds and wins the game! I even question the pass interference call late in the game that set up scUM's last TD. Without that call, they lose by 11 (~ dobule of the line). In a rematch, tO$U by over 10 pts. over scUM. Don't get me wrong, I hate them both (tO$U and scUM), but Michigan should be 3rd-4th in the polls as of this morning .... USC should be #2 (until ND kicks their ass this weekend).

Yesterday I heard a Seneca Wallace comparision in regards to Troy Smith and his potential NFL career.

Still more dust to be settled, but for me, any one loss team that won their conference trumps Michigan. They're second in the Big Ten. How can they be first in America at the end of the season? Might as well have a playoff bracket if you want to have that happen.

I think that whoever was #3 in the coaches poll should have moved to #2. It's the way it has always been done, not sure why they changed now. UM lost. Period. Despite what people hypothosize, no one knows if OSU would beat USC. Yes, they lost to Oregon State(which in normal circumstances should keep them out of the NC), but they also beat the SEC West Division Champ, the likely Big 12 North Division Champ, a top 10 ranked Cal, and a previously ranked Oregon with #5 ND left on it's schedule. UM would have beaten ND and Wisc. That's it.

The best thing for Urban's program would not to play OSU. His team would get crushed. Their offense is as anemic as those of ND during the Coach Tytanic regime.

You might be able to say that about a bunch of games and teams. The first part of your post may be true, but it is still subjective. We don't know for 100% sure if OSU would beat USC, UF, Ark or ND because they haven't played. We can say we are 100% sure UM lost.

I agree with a post I saw earlier. OSU v UM rematch is most unfair to OSU. They beat UM already. If UM wins the rematch by less than 3, whose to say they are better than OSU and should be National Champs?

I really don't need to hear Urban crying for OSU about how unfair it is to them. You KNOW if he were the coach of Michigan he'd be SCREAMING about how they proved they're still the #2 team in the country, only lost to the #1 team on the road by 3 points, blah blah blah...

Its funny, but I'm more and more glad every year that this guy snubbed Notre Dame and went to Florida, and they got CW instead.

I mean, I still think he's a good coach, but he's such a jerk.

And I know some would say the same thing about Charlie, but I've never heard Charlie pick apart another team's defense the way Meyer did of Louisville's, or trash an entire conference like the Big East. Charlie just doesn't understand why teams pass the Irish when the Irish win and the other team's on a bye, which I think is a reasonable concern. I never hear him trashing other teams the way Urban does though.

Urban has taken the #1 spot on my list of coach's I hate the most, he is shithead, plain and simple. I don't know what happens to guys down there that take that job. Spurrier became a shithead, Zook and now Meyer.

I was elated he passed up the ND job. could you imagine Quinn running that f'n spread option. GOD forbid.

The day they announced CW's name as the new head coach. I just thank you GOD, thank you!!

He failed to mention that he lost to Auburn... who lost to GEORGIA. At least Notre Dame's loss was to a good team. Auburn has been suspect all year and barely snuck by Alabama. How ironic he failed to mention a counter-argument to his argument. I will never take someone's argument seriously if he/she can't provide an answer to a counter-argument.

Until then, I consider it biased spittle.

I think the team who plays OSU in NC game should be the team that run the table. Either Florida or USC(although Tommy Trojan has a crew of Fightin Irish waiting on them). These two team are the most deserving...Michigan finished SECOND in the Big 10.
ND lost to Michigan so....IF USC or Florida can finish with one loss then they should be put in the NC game

Here's my thing, the point of the BCS is to determine who the best two teams in the nation are and let them play for the national title. Using common sense and having watched the game OSU and Mich are the two best teams in the country hands down. I don't see anyone else in the BCS top 10 staying within 28 points of OSU this year, they are that good. Michigan lost by 3 in The Shoe to the number one team in the country. If this game had been played in September not November, Michigan probably would have worked their way back into the top two for a rematch, just like it looked like Texas was going to do for awhile there. Why should Michigan be punished for losing late? They shouldn't. Now say a rematch happens and Michigan wins a close game then split the title, not that hard. USC, Florida, ND, Arkansas, I just don't see as legitimate contenders for the title. I think OSU routes, and I mean routes, any of these teams. Besides, anybody really want to see ND in the Championship game against OSU now? I don't. What would you rather watch for the title, a rematch of a classic OSU-Mich game or OSU win the title by halftime against anybody else? Give me the rematch.
