Yup. A two-loss ACC champion would be better for us that a "good loss" against the eventual undefeated ACC champion.
I think it depends on what the other conference champions records look like.

Oh, no doubt Michigan jumps us, and considering the state of affairs in LA, beating USC will not make up for it, unless MSU blasts Michigan.
UM deserves to jump us. They'd beat us right now.
Really? I don't think they do, or should. They've played 1 team with any legit offense. Utah. And they lost. Don't get me wrong, 3 shutout games (or whatever it is) is impressive. But they're schedule is softer than ours has been.
Really? They did to Northwestern what we did to Texas and Northwestern is way better than Texas.Really? I don't think they do, or should. They've played 1 team with any legit offense. Utah. I hate to agree, but it is true. Right now, I am not sure we could score enough to win. Their D is strong AF.
They took Oregon State, UNLV, and BYU, had them fly across the country and play an early game.
Who has ND played that is legit on either side of the ball, much less won?
Nobody.
So, yes, RIGHT NOW, UM deserves to jump us. Unless Sparty blitzes the fvck out of them.
Or if they do dumb AF things like fake punts.Bielema is going to blow this game if he stays so predictable.

That has NOTHING to do with their defense, particularly after today's result where they shut out a top 15 team. I hate UM as much as anyone, but there is no way you can say that ND is far better than UM so far.
So, yeah, fck Michigan, but they are currently playing far better as a team than we have been.
I'd say that's pretty damn smart by Dave Brandon
Clemson
EDIT: Navy is legit on offense, no? Averaged 38.5 points per game coming in.

Texas might beat Northwestern today on a neutral field, but Early Season Texas was a special breed of awful. Are they? Texas just knocked out a top ten team on a neutral field and went toe to toe with okst and cal, both undefeated teams. Yeah, Texas got blown out by TCU, but Northwestern just got jobbed by Michigan. I don't know there's a convincing argument to be made that Northwestern is a better team than Texas. Unless you find close wins against Ball State impressive?
One-dimensional teams are not legit on offense.
Clemson yes, but we lost and our defensive line and OL got MANHANDLED the majority of the the game.
So basically, the game would be a toss up, but considering how porous ND has been defensively at times, particularly early in the last two games, yeah, I would say that UM deserves to be ranked ahead of ND. It likely does not matter in the long run, but right now, they ARE playing better than ND...ever so slightly.
So you're saying an undefeated team averaging nearly 40 points a game is... What? Offensively inept? So when the Irish won the national championship with the option, what were we then? The illegitimate undefeated best team in the country? You should type less. Your thoughts are best smothered in the cradle.
And if anyone needs to type less, it is you, my friend, because you literally make no sense. The time zone does NOT make that big of a difference, unless you think that is why ND lost by 3-plus TDs to both USC and ASU...which is NOT the case.
Oh, and when ND beat USC in 12, it was because it was a night game, right??? No. It was because ND was a slightly better team that night.
Wake up already. I said that after 5 games, Michigan would be deserving of jumping us, especially since they have beaten a Top 15 team, while ND has not.
There is a vast difference between being a legitimately well-coached, disciplined team like ND was under Lou and a legitimately explosive offense. That was also 27 years ago, or eons ago.
The simple fact is that Michigan and ND have both played fairly soft schedules, but Michigan has a defense that IS playing MUCH better than ND is.
I mean, Texas, GT and Navy are NOT good wins, and Clemson is only a good loss if they win the ACC, period.
