And we wonder why athletes have become spoiled, entitled, and out of touch with reality?

If the guys you recruit are shallow enough to make a lifelong decision (what school their degree will be from) based on the uniform that they wear, then don't expect them to be model citizens, let alone role models.

It's amazing how the choices you make as a youth seem foolish when you get older. Uni's shouldn't mean a thing when it comes to education and winning football.

I don't know, I would agree with you that a recruit should never decide on where to go to school because of such an unimportant thing like a uniform.

However, I don't think you should ignore it all together, because the point is that uniforms can be a small part of what attracts a recruit to a program. And in today's competitive recruiting world I think you should get every advantage you can for your school.

Hahahaha. Spot on, but the corruption starts when money becomes involved. The government, college athletics, etc; there are examples everywhere that when money becomes involved, or more pointedly, when money is there to be made, a process becomes a competition for money, and everything is off the table. By giving our money to the NCAA every year we essentially are supporting the direction of the sport with our dollars. Uniforms are a part of this.

Don't just blame the athletes it's our society as a whole. So don't blame them if they make decisions based on crap, I see adults do it EVERY DAMN DAY!!!!!

Personally, I'll take the tradition of ND's unis every day of the week. Our commits often cite tradition as part of the school's appeal. I'm all for a jumbo tron and field turf, and maybe even an alternate uni once a year, but at a school like ND I think we could actually turn off some potential recruits if we went "radical." It would be like we suddenly had an identity crisis.

I like some of the things that we have done. The Shamrock, the green jersey, the ND on the sleeves, change in the gold.

Tradition is a good thing, but some fun is good too. A balance.

I say we field a winning team before we play with the stupid uniforms. Wear the same damn thing every saturday then when we start winning more than 6,7,8 games per year on a regular basis then mess with the uniforms.

Bama and USC haven't changed their unis in years, and still rake in 5 star after 5 star.

They have realized the secret isn't in the uniforms, but paying the recruit.

Guys, i think you might be confusing correlafion for causation. Did anyone here read freakonomics?

I don't think a large number of kids decide where they go because of uniforms. However, what you wear says something about you. Furthermore, differentiating yourself in a bold manner will get you a look from prospects. People are attracted to confidence --swagger-- the smurf turf gives Boise an advantage over say nearby Wyoming and I mean before before Boise's success because it gives them some swagger.

Also to consider, ESPN would be much more likely to put Boise on TV because they know people would stop just because the field is so unique. So the uniforms might effect kids' decisions but the reasons behind how they do that are much deeper than hey those are pretty colors.
