Always let the process play out. Turns out he was found not guilty on all counts. And from what I've read, the whole thing seemed fishy from the start, like the DA wanted to make a name. Either way, the kid took a risk going to trial to prove his innocence and he was vindicated.

Well i have personal experience in the Ann Arbor court house. They love their athletes in there.
I was in the same courtroom as Zach Putnam, a highly recruited pitcher that went to UM, who was in for an MIP. Not a real big deal if you ask me, but the judge literally said this, "Do you understand the charges against you?" Zach says "Yes." Judge says, "Alright well you have a bright future ahead of you so just keep your head on straight."
And he was dismissed. Craziness.
