Michigan backup safety Marvin Robinson arrested
Angelique S. Chengelis/ The Detroit News

Ann Arbor— Michigan safety Marvin Robinson faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday in 14th District Court, according to the court's website.

Robinson faces a second-degree charge for home invasion.

"We are aware of the report," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in a statement Monday. "We will let the legal process run its course, and we will not have any further comment until that time."

Robinson has played sparingly this season because of a concussion suffered in practice earlier this season. He has played in five games and started one and had nine tackles.

So Hoke isn't suspending him or doing anything until the legal process plays out?

Probably RedShirt him and "suspend" him for the year. That way he'll be ready come next September to fill in for the departed Woolfolk.

I don't recall the ND football player in question being suspended during the investigation of the whole sexual assault incident. Yes, I know, he wasn't arrested, but the principle is the same.

Innocent until proven guilty is a pretty big cornerstone of the justice system.

Yeah... not trying to be a **** here... but why quote my post and post something like this?

My question wasn't rhetorical or trying to make a point... nor does it have anything to do with what ND does. Good answers would have been:

"Yes, Hoke is doing XYZ." or "No, Hoke isn't doing anything and he will be active next week." I'm not trying to be judgy of Michigan at all. Every team does things their own way. I just wanted clarification before I made a post that WAS judgy lest I give an uninformed opinion.

Bolded part is true. Unfortunately Michigan isn't part of the justice system and doesn't have to abide by that belief (see LSU/Jordan Jefferson and I believe ND suspended Floyd before his day in court).

As I remarked in another thread topic: universities are primarily weighing what social damages might be done to the institution by making one response to any given incident or another. That "weighing" procedure probably sees a player being arrested as quite different in risk management than a player who has not been. My guess it that it has been "suggested" to Hoke that he suspend the player until the trial works itself out. Michigan's butt is well covered in such a decision.

All other "reasonable" view points based on constitutional philosophy or student-concern-first or morality etc are probably just a little secondary in the real decision-making processes.
